NYFW: SPRING SUMMER 2012 TRENDS

New York Fashion Week has come to a close, and while we’re all eagerly looking to London at the moment for the best of Brit style, here are the top trends we’ve scoped out at fashion week for next season’s trends so you can be ahead of the curve.

1. METALLICS:

From the likes of Suno, to Theyskens Theory to Marc Jacobs and even to Prabal Gurung, metallics have made a comeback.

2. LONGER SHORTS:

Tired of looking at booty shorts or not fond of having to wear shorts that might have you accidentally flash your hoo-hah? Well, good news – hemlines are longer next season and we’re loving it!

3. WIDE LEGS

We love this too-cool-to-care look that we’re gonna get a head start and hunt some for Fall. Designers like John Patrick, Jenni Kayne, and Vena Cava showed wide, loose pants on their runways and we’re so excited to see heaps more on the shelves soon!

4. LONG & FLOWY

Long and flowy dresses with asymmetrical hems ruled the runway. We don’t think it’s a look everybody can pull off, but it’s definitely a hot trend if you can!

5. SPORTY

Marc Jacobs, 3.1 Phillip Lim, ADAM, Alexander Wang all had one trend in common: taking sportswear out of the courts and onto the runways. Velour trackpants with heels? When done right, why not?
