11 Editor-Approved Skincare Must-Haves Of 2016

As voted on by our editors for Clozette Beauty Awards

After reviewing over 200 beauty products that were newly released over the past year, our editors – Kersie, Becks and Lystra – finally debuted 26 winners from the Clozette Beauty Awards 2016: The Editor’s Choice. From skincare to makeup, each beauty product – whether it’s from a departmental or specialty brand – was strictly tried and tested based on five judging criteria: application, results, innovation, packaging, and price-point.

So, who won the hearts of our discerning resident beauty junkies? Below, we’re welcoming the New Year with these 11 editor-approved skincare must-haves of 2016.

Best Essence: Elizabeth Arden Prevage® Anti-aging Antioxidant Infusion Essence

This refreshing and lightweight essence is infused with Hydrachannel Technology™ and a powerful blend of seven antioxidants to boost skin’s natural hydration levels instantly and over time while keeping it well protected against environmental radicals.
Best Eye Cream: Clarins Enhancing Eye Lift Serum

This eye serum absorbs easily into the skin, leaving a soothing texture to layer on subsequent eye creams. Concentrated with pure plant extracts, it works on the eye contours to lighten dark eye circles and lifts the upper eyelids for visibly bigger and brighter eyes. On top of that, the Eye Lift Serum also features a Panthenol-Enriched formula, which can help to strengthen lashes for a flutter-worthy look.

Best Facial Oil: SK-II Facial Treatment Oil

Combine PITERA™ with six nourishing oils in a unique Golden Ratio, and you’ll get skin that is intensively drenched with moisture. We recommend using the Facial Treatment Oil once every few days, or everyday for skin that’s constantly exposed to harsh cold weather, air conditioning or pollution.
Best Cleanser: Neutrogena Deep Clean Brightening Cleansing Oil To Foam

We must say, we had quite the sensorial experience when we reviewed this cleansing product. From an oil gel texture to cream to soft foam, its dual-transformation process first removes make-up, before cleansing away dirt and oil effectively in one wash. On top of that, we love how a vacuum at the bottom of the packaging helps to push up any remaining product to prevent wastage.

Best Makeup Remover: RMK Moist Cleansing Balm

The RMK Moist Cleansing Balm – scented with a rose fragrance – does a pretty great job in removing our makeup to ensure a clean face at the end of the day. From a solid balm to silky oil, this cleansing balm combines all the benefits of beauty oils with an emollient base that gently glides on skin to melt away even the most stubborn makeup. Bonus point: it comes with a spatula that can be attached onto the cover for hygiene and convenience.
Best Mask: innisfree Super Volcanic Clay Mousse Mask (Departmental) & Lancôme Énergie De Vie The Overnight Recovery Sleeping Mask (Specialty)

The innisfree Super Volcanic Clay Mousse Mask packs some serious sebum-absorbing power thanks to its Super Volcanic Clusters™. A deep cleansing mask that is great for those with oily skin or various pore concerns, it glides over small pores and fine lines; and is carefully formulated with exfoliating ingredients such as AHA, BHA, walnut shell extract and cellulose. Plus, the packaging provides clear instruction on how to use the product, and its new pump applicator gives a hassle-free experience – exactly how we like it.

The Lancôme Énergie De Vie The Overnight Recovery Sleeping Mask has a transparent, gel-like texture that is lightweight and soothing enough as an overnight mask. It works hard overnight to keep your skin protected throughout the day with a layer of antioxidants. This anti-fatigue mask offers the hydrating and plumping effect of a balm, and the freshness and lightness of a water mist.
Best Moisturiser: Sothys Hydra3Ha™ Hydrating Gel-cream

Available in two textures for different skin preferences – Hydrating cream and Hydrating gel-cream – this moisturiser works to combat dehydrated skin to smooth, soften and intensively hydrate your skin, making it a reliable everyday skincare essential.

Best Serum: Fresh Black Tea Age-Delay Firming Serum

Concentrated with a blend of exclusive Black Tea Complex, this firming serum is said to give a “corset-like” effect to firm and give more definition to the facial contours. This fast-absorbing moisturising treatment smells delightful but not too overpowering, leaving you feeling relaxed and ready to hit the sack. The bottle nozzle also allows you to control the amount of product to be dispensed more precisely as compared to a pump.
Best Sunscreen: Biore UV Watery Essence

If you’re the kind of user who skips the sunblock because of its oily after-feel, this is for you. Packed with SPF 50 PA+++ for maximum protection, this watery-based sunscreen comes in an ultra light texture that does not leave the skin greasy after application. We like that it absorbs quickly and does not interfere with our makeup after.

Best Toner: Porcelain Revive Glycolic Toner

Enriched with a blend of gentle alpha-hydroxy acids, vitamin C and E; and enhanced with aloe vera, sodium hyaluronate and witch hazel, this toner works hard to clarify the skin to make way for a brighter, clearer appearance. This hydrating anti-aging toner also works to speed up collagen and elastin production to treat fine lines and acne for younger-looking skin.
