Eight years ago, Sabrina Tan sought to find a solution that could solve her eczema-prone skin issue and founded Singapore-based beauty brand, Skin Inc. Eight years later, Skin Inc has grown into an internationally known skincare authority with standalone boutiques in Singapore, Brunei, and Spain – as well as a global presence in Sephora stores in Malaysia, Thailand, Spain and the United States.

To celebrate the brand’s eighth anniversary, Skin Inc presented the #SkinIncBeautyHackathon, uniting some of the world’s best beauty YouTubers, editors and key opinion leaders in Singapore to share about their skincare wish lists for upcoming Skin Inc products.

Later in the evening, guests gathered at the swanky Flow 18 bar on the rooftop of The South Beach hotel, where they got up close and personal with CEO and founder Sabrina, as well as brushed shoulders with their favourite YouTubers, including Angel from beautifymeeh, Aurelia from Auraure; Jen from frmheadtotoe, Karissa Pukas and more.

Amidst the festivities stood the Skin Inc vending machine, where each guest brought home a pack of customised serum blend tailored to their skin identity. Powered by nine different types of serums with various active ingredients developed in Japan, Skin Inc honours skin’s uniqueness by recommending the best concoction for every individual’s needs. “From one size fits all to one size fits one” – that’s what Skin Inc stands by.

Longtime user, fashion entrepreneur Velda Tan also took to the stage to talk about her skincare journey with the brand – from tackling acne-prone skin issues to embracing skin clarity today and everyday. As a round up to the momentous evening, guests raised their mocktail-filled Skin Inc bottles in tandem to eight years of the distinguished beauty powerhouse.

If bold, edgy-cool cuts and colours are your go-to style, get ready to feast your eyes on Toni&Guy’s Socialized Collection 2015/2016. Featuring 14 looks – 12 for women and two for men – this dynamic collection demonstrates top-class hairdressing techniques and exudes the electrifying high fashion air that Toni&Guy personifies.

Toni&Guy Socialized Collection 2015/2016 showcase in Singapore

From ultra-short graphic shapes juxtaposed against eye skimming fringes, to long distressed textures intensified by captivating colour palettes, it takes guts – resolute, ironclad guts – to own these looks. But when you do, you know you’ve got a statement style right there.

With each look inspired by an iconic moment in fashion and pop culture, we picked out six of our favourite styles for short, medium and long hair lengths from the Toni&Guy Socialized Collection 2015/2016.

--------------------------

Short Length: The Soraya

The shortest cut in the collection and definitely not one for the faint-hearted, The Soraya is named after London-based female model, Soraya, who is known for walking the menswear shows. It features a rounded off crown and a heavy blunt fringe cut with a monochromatic tone to reflect a strong, masculine outlook.

Short Length: The Ikon

The Ikon, on the other hand, is a fiery retro red based off Prada’s annual ‘Iconoclast’ exhibition, where a red-hair model once fronted the campaign. The quirky double fringe adds to the enigmatic look.

Medium Length: The Bronte

Drawing inspiration from three eras – seventies’ rock and roll, eighties’ mullet and nineties’ undercut – The Bronte is a modern interpretation of “Bronte”, a Greek goddess associated with thunder.

Medium Length: The Instalux

Taking references from Tom Ford’s distressed texture, Marc Jacob’s fringes and Onitsuka Tiger’s grown out fringe seen on the runways, the Instaluxe is a nineties rock chick style that is fierce and incredibly sexy. Its combination of electric violet and sunset purple is derived from traditional Japanese dye.

Long Length: The Modette

A remake of the sixties silhouette, The Modette models after 1960s girl group, The Ronettes. Creating shapes and textures using hair accessories, this look is not only extremely wearable, it is also a great alternative to our everyday warm-weather hairstyles.

Long Length: The Teddy Girl

For major street cred, go for The Teddy Girl. An ode to Britain’s first female youth culture, The Teddy Girl emanates attitude and toughness by the truckload. Small and big braids give the overall look a textured, rough structure to put you right on the vibrant street scene.
