3 Makeup Dupes To Suit Your Budget | Clozette

If a product is cheaper and does an equal (and at times better job) than a highend product, it's definitely something to rave about. After all, who doesn't love a good deal?

So here's to proving that a makeup hoarding habit doesn't have to be expensive. Bask in the wonderful world of makeup without having to break the bank with these 3 drugstore dupes.

Urban Decay NAKED Palette & MUA Undressed Palette

Urban Decay's NAKED Palette (US$54) is a cult product, with beauty girls everywhere impressed with its pigmentation, colour selection, and creamy blendability. But if you're looking for something that comes at a fraction of its cost and has a similar colour selection (a mix of nude shimmers and mattes), then check out the MUA Undressed Palette ($7). While the eyeshadows may not be as creamy to the touch as the NAKED Palette, the colours are pretty spot-on with decent pigmentation.

Anastasia Brow Wiz & Etude House Drawing Eye Brow Pencil

There's no doubt that the Anastasia Brow Wiz (US$21) is one of the best brow product out in the market today. Its slim, precise tip allows you to draw the most natural brow shape and create the illusion of texture. But if you're on the budget, give the Etude House Drawing Eye Brow (US$4) a try. It has an equally silky smooth texture to define and shape your brows. In fact, we may actually like this more for its angled precision that makes it easier to create defined and well-shaped brows.

The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer vs e.l.f Baked Highlighter

If you love highlighters as much as we do, then you'll love this dupe. The Balm's Mary-Lou Manizer (US$24) is a honey-hued highlighter that adds a pop of sheen to your cheekbones for a subtle glow. It's also probably one of the most talked about highlighters in the beauty world (other than Hourglass' Ambient Light Powder). For a cheaper alternative, turn to e.l.f Baked Highlighter in Moon Pearl (US$3) for a pretty close dupe--the only difference is that e.l.f's is a bit cooler toned. But as a whole, both products give that sheer, lit-from-within glow that lasts.

Being a woman has its ups and downs. One being that there is pressure to uphold the standards of beauty seen around media, another is being stereotyped to do "girly" tasks and domestication. We may not be aware of it, but sometimes we adhere to these pressures put by society because of what society has dictated upon us in our past experiences.

This time, how about not looking back or having regrets? How about not giving in to labels, pressures, and what have have you. This time, we’re looking forward. We're focusing on the future and inspiring others and ourselves in the process. This is what #faceforward is all about.

Here are 3 promises you can tell to your future self. And in the end, don't forget to make a promise to the future and put it out there too.

Keep On Doing What Makes You Happy

Margaret Zhang is a blogger, creative director, and a law student. How she manages to excel in all 3 is beyond us; but we believe it's because she is simply doing what she loves. As she notes: "We don't always have to do what people expect us to do."

And that's a statement to live by, promise your future self to keep on doing what you love--whether it may be something unconventional or something simple. As long as it makes your heart happy, keep on doing it.

Dream Big

Tavi Gevinson is a writer, director, and actress and is without a doubt someone who knows how to dream big. Why settle when you can be so much more? And why stay where you are if you can go higher? Get out there and be with people who can make you a better person. Just as what Tavi Gavinson says, "Dress for yourself. Dream Big. Find your voice and put it out there."

Love Yourself

Media is both amazing and scary all at the same time. It can be inspiring as it is able to share stories from people all over the world, but at times it can also ruin our own ideals about the world, the people around us, and ourselves. Sometimes media portray women as images that are too perfect that we tend to feel less about ourselves.

So promise your future self that you will love yourself, no matter what you've become, what you're doing as a job, who you're with, and what you're wearing. Because you are the only version of you, and you are precious.

Getting ready is a must, and it all starts with the things we put inside our bags. We girls cannot live a day without the things we need, especially if it involves the things we need for our jobs.

In order to get you ready to go to work, here are 5 must-haves to put inside your workbag!

#1: Essentials

Imagine going out the door and forgetting your wallet, phone, and keys? We can never stand a day without all our essentials. These things connect us to our workmates and clients, let us pay our taxi rides, and open doors. Forgetting these things is like forgetting your breakfast. You need both of 'em!

#2: Laptop

A great majority of our work, especially if you work online, is spent on sending emails, research, writing, and such. A laptop is essential to get our work done quickly and finish it just in time. It's also handy and has a bigger screen compared to our phones for easy browsing and typing.

#3: Planner

You may have our calendars and apps on our phones but studies show that writing things down is more effective in remembering things--especially your schedules. For work, it's vital to have a planner to help you organize things ahead. It also takes down every single thought in our minds for our goals and inspirations. Plus, it does not have to look plain and boring, you can customize our planners however you want it!

#4: Makeup Kit

To look presentable to our clients during work and for touh-ups throughout the day, we need our makeup kit. Our make-up kits should have all the eyeshadows, blush-ons, and brushes for our work #MOTD. That way, we can look like we haven't been stressing all-out and blooming as ever!

#5: Tumbler

Finally, we should never forget that we need our daily source of strength in the morning--coffee! Coffee keep us wide awake (and sane) for those day's we need an extra push to do our tasks. So for those days at work when you need a cup on-the-go, you'll have your handy tumbler with you to put your coffee in!
