But is it possible to see an actual difference in our skin in as little as 5 days? Are the skincare products of today advanced enough to have fast-acting active ingredients that’ll give considerable results in a short amount of time?
To answer those questions, I took the 5-day skincare challenge and put Olay’s new Regenerist Miracle Duo to the test!
I’m in my 30s and anti-aging skincare is definitely something I have been obsessed with, constantly looking for products that keep my skin moisturized and plump to smoothen the skin and prevent and correct fine lines.
The main idea behind the Olay Regenerist Miracle Duo is that it promises to smooth skin surface by plumping the surface cells with a boost of hydration. It’s a skincare routine that works best when the Pre-Essence and the Micro-Sculpting Cream are used together. So aside from my go-to cleanser, I put aside the rest of my usual daytime skincare routine and opted to only use the Miracle Duo throughout the 5-days.
First impressions: The pre-essence is lightweight and absorbs quickly into the skin. While the cream is a bit thicker than what I’m used to (I prefer a lightweight cream for daytime), it does the job in keeping my skin from feeling tight and dry throughout the day. I must note though that the cream doesn’t have any SPF, so I would recommend topping it off with your choice of sunscreen if you’ll be out and about throughout the day.
Whenever I would apply the essence, I would feel a warm sensation all over my face which remains even after applying the cream over it. Could it be the Miracle Duo working its magic?
Day three into the challenge and I woke up today to surprisingly softer skin. I remember looking at myself in the mirror and thinking ‘Wow. My skin looks good today!” That’s impressive considering that I’ve only been using two skincare products for the past couple of days.
While I did mention in Day One that the cream is a bit too thick for my personal preference, the texture has grown on me -- especially since I’m actually seeing results, with my skin looking a lot more hydrated and dewy even if I haven’t had enough sleep. I would credit this to the cream’s formula of Amino-peptide Complex, olive-oil extracts, and Hydra-Firming Complex that work together to retain the skin’s youthful glow.
Skin texture is very important to me, especially when judging an anti-aging product. At the end of the day, for an anti-aging product to impress me, it should not only hydrate my skin but should also smoothen my skin texture. I don’t expect miracles from beauty products and don’t expect a product to make wrinkles and bumps disappear in a matter of days. But when a product (or in this case a duo of products) can make my cheeks feel a bit smoother to the touch, then it’s getting a big star on my book!
I also noticed today that my foundation applied more smoothly on my face than compared to the week before I embarked on this challenge.
It’s the end of my 5-day skincare challenge and here’s what I’ve learned through the 5 days: when tasked to stare at your face every day to spot changes, it makes you feel more comfortable about your skin in the long run – especially when you see actual results. There were a couple of days when I didn’t even want to wear makeup because I was so happy with how my bare face looked and felt.
So would I continue beyond Day 5? Of course! I would probably add an SPF to the routine; but other than that, I’m happy that a simple anti-aging routine has made a difference in my skin in 5 days. While the difference may be small, it’s a step towards brighter more radiant skin. And all it took was two products.
