5 Flawless Foundations Dark-Skinned Gals Should Try | Clozette

Finding the right foundation shade is a challenge to all, but more so for ladies with darker skin tones. And it doesn't help that only a few brands release extensive choices to accommodate everyone. But that's slowly changing as we see some influential beauty brands embracing diversity and becoming more inclusive in their product releases. That said, here are some of the latest flawless foundation lines that dark-skinned gals shouldn't miss.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Shameless Youthful-Look 24-H Longwear Foundation SPF 25

Available in 29 shades, the Marc Jacobs Beauty Shameless foundation offers shades for fair, light, medium, tan and deep shades. It has medium to full buildable coverage that features the first-ever flashback-free SPF.  No more chalky or ashy appearance in photos! This formula also contains snow mushroom and blue daisy extracts that provide hydration and a soothing effect on the skin.

Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation

SGD50/~USD38.13 (fentybeauty.com)

With over 40 shades to choose from, Fenty Beauty's Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation may possibly be the most inclusive foundation line as of today. The release of this collection was much buzzed about, as it was groundbreaking for the beauty industry. It claims to give a soft matte, long wear finish with a buildable coverage from medium to full. The best thing about this foundation is the climate-adaptive technology that makes it resistant to heat and humidity; perfect for tropical babes like us.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation

USD64 (giorgioarmanibeauty-usa.com)

You may have already heard about this foundation because it's been hyped about lately due to its creamy yet lightweight texture. It comes in 24 shades and offers medium coverage. The edge of this foundation is it's supposed to give you that "flawless lit-from-within glow" because of their exclusive Micro–fil™ technology that camouflages skin imperfections.

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation

SGD61/USD39 (toofaced.com)

Championed for giving that undetectable coverage and seamless application, Too Faced's Born This Way foundation quickly gained a cult following in the beauty community. Over the years, they've been adding more and more shades and as of now they already have a total of 24 diverse shades. Included in its formula are coconut water, Alpine Rose and Hyaluronic filling to ensure hydration and a flawless complexion.

Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation

SGD76/USD49 (narscosmetics.com)

To find the best foundation for your skin tone, you should also consider your undertones. And yes, even if you're a dark-skinned gal it's still possible for you to have a cool undertone. The old trick to identifying your correct undertone is to examine the colour of your veins. If it's bluish then you have a cool undertone, if it's yellowish then it's warm, and if it's greenish then you have an olive undertone. NARS recognises this and that's why they came up with 20 shades of foundation with a focus on undertones. The NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation offers full coverage with up to 16-hour wear.

For us beauty enthusiasts, finding out that some brands you used to need to order from across the globe are coming to your country is probably the best news there is! And the first quarter of 2018 just got a lot more exciting for Singapore as new beauty brands hit the shore. Below, the new kids on the beauty block.

Hair Rituel by Sisley

The luxury beauty brand has launched their Hair Rituel line that promises good loving for your tresses. The star product from the line is their Revitalizing Fortifying Serum (SGD250/~USD191), a lightweight water-based formula that strengthens hair and scalp to prevent hair loss, even grey hair. They also have the Precious Hair Care Oil (SGD130/~USD99), Revitalizing Volumizing Shampoo with Camella Oil (SGD98/USD75), Revitalizing Smoothing Shampoo with Macadamia Oil (SGD98/USD75), Restructuring Conditioner with Cotton Proteins (SGD90/USD75), and Regenerating Hair Care Mask with Four Botanical Oils (SGD122/USD95), giving you a complete range for all-around glorious locks. You can get a hold of the entire line at Sisley beauty counters in Robinsons Heerens, Robinsons Raffles City, Takashimaya S.C. and Metro Paragon respectively.

Miracles for your skin? Yes, please! MDNA Skin introduced itself impressively with its nine products, which includes a Rejuvenator Set (SGD940/~USD600), The Rose Mist (SGD185/~USD120), and The Serum (SGD370/~USD240), all claiming to be perfect for everyday use regardless of your gender, ethnicity, or skin type. Its latest addition to the product line is The Onyx Black (SGD490/~USD374), that brings wonders to the skin even without electricity with the lift-and-hold motion and Far Infrared Rays through 99.9% pure black-body carbon rollers. But that's not the best part. Did you know that this was also founded by Queen of Pop, Madonna, herself?

K-beauty fans, luxury Korean beauty brand HERA is making its debut in Singapore next month. The brand's first counter — the first out of Korea and China — will open on 10 May 2018 at Takashimaya Department Store. Expect a comprehensive range of makeup, skincare, and the Homme line, along with limited edition collections such as the upcoming Spring/Summer 2018 collaboration, HERA x Edith Carron Secret Party Collection. It's a new week — and that can only mean one thing: we'll be treated to a deluge of new happenings and releases from the worlds of fashion and beauty. For starters, here's what you need to know right now.

Chrissy x Becca Part 2?

Could there be a second instalment of the best-selling Chrissy Teigen x Becca Cosmetics collaboration? The model shared a sneak peek of a behind-the-scenes shoot with the cosmetics brand but did not give any further info. Would you be looking out for a possible new collab?

H&M x Moschino

H&M's latest designer collaboration is with Moschino. The news was revealed during the design house's creative director Jeremy Scott's Coachella party. A preview of what the collection will include has been seen on model Gigi Hadid. The collection will be out in November.

L'Oreal is buying Style Nanda

L'Oreal is reportedly buying 70% of Style Nanda, a Korean fashion and cosmetics brand. While the Korean brand initially became popular because of their clothes, they are shifting a bit more of their focus into their cosmetics brand 3CE, which could also explain the interest from L'Oreal. No deals have been signed, but are you excited to see what the acquisition would bring? Will we be seeing 3CE in drugstore locations soon?
