Relive Your Fave Scenes In These Asian Drama Filming Locations | Clozette

It’s on the bucket list of every Asian drama fan to visit where their fave dramas were shot. If you’re one who’s spent hours binging on Korean, Japanese, and other Asian dramas, then go on that once-in-a-lifetime chance to live your dream. Relive the epic onscreen moments in real life and head off to these Asian drama filming locations. If you’re unsure where to go, then here are top spots that set the backdrop for classic dramas everyone loves.

Yebisu Garden Place, Tokyo, Japan

For those who enjoy watching J-dramas, go straight to this complex right at the heart of Tokyo. A former brewery, Yebisu Garden Place is the iconic location of Japan's most globally known J-drama franchise, Hana Yori Dango. Best known as the marker for F4's Domyouji Tsukasa and Makino Tsukushi's first date, it also serves as an important setting for its sequel, Hana Nochi Hare, set 10 years later.

National Chung Cheng University, Chiayi, Taiwan

If you enjoyed Hana Yori Dango, then surely, you also fawned over the Taiwanese F4 of Meteor Garden. Despite the story originating from Japan as a manga, the Taiwanese drama arguably remains to be the most popular live-adaptation of the story. Aired way back in 2001, it’s probably what sparked everyone’s love for Asian dramas. If you want to reminisce about the heart-pounding and heart-breaking scenes of the classic, then consider visiting National Chung Cheng University. Located in Chiayi, Taiwan, the open university grounds where Dao Ming Si and Shan Cai roamed serves as one of the most popular Asian drama filming locations today.

Samtan Art Mine, Jeongseon, South Korea

Thought all of Descendants of the Sun scenes were shot in Greece? Well, turns out, some were still taken in South Korea. Don't fly off to Europe anymore and just head to Jeongseon. Contrary to popular belief, Argus’ hideout was actually shot in Samtan Art Mine. You might think that the abandoned coal mine is a bit too creepy, but don’t fret! It actually now serves as a cool art centre and rail museum with interesting installations. When done exploring the filming site, you can also check out the wine cave and other restaurants in the complex.

Puzhehei, Yunnan, China

Of course, we’re not forgetting Asian drama filming locations in China. C-drama fans out there would probably recognise the unspoiled natural environment of Puzhehei, which served as the idyllic backdrop for the hit Chinese fantasy series Eternal Love. Located in Yunnan, Puzhehei’s scenic landscape will make you feel like you’ve been transported to the world of deities and gods. Bask in the beauty of the far-off mountains, and walk along the thorned bridge across the calm lake as Bai Qian did in one of her three lives. If you want to see the Puzhehei at its finest, visit Yunnan in spring when the lotus flowers are in bloom.
