Calling All Aspiring Fashion Designers! | Clozette
A combination of flight and fashion heats up as AirAsia goes regional this year as they launch their Runway Ready Designer Search 2016. In collaboration with the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week Ready To Wear team, aspiring designers from Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia and the Philippines are invited to showcase their talents in the hopes of catapulting success in the fashion industry. 

Aireen Omar, Chief Executive Officer of AirAsia Berhad, and Andrew Tan, Founder of Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week Ready to Wear, will be part of the panel of judges for this year’s AARRDS 2016. Joining them in the panel of judges are Vivy Yusof, owner of renowned fashion e-commerce site, Alia Bastamam, top fashion designer and Suzie Adnan, Editor-in-Chief of GLAM magazine.

This designer search is open to local or international students, 28 years of age or below, and currently studying or have graduated from fashion design schools in any of the five countries included in this search. Three (3) women’s ready-to-wear sketches inspired by Asean destinations are to be submitted with the completed registration forms.

Audition rounds will be held in Jakarta (16 April), Manila (23 April), Kuala Lumpur (30 April), Singapore (7 May) and Bangkok (14 May) to discover local talents from each regional city, and the Top 3 from the respective cities will represent their country during the Grand Finale in August on the prestigious KLFW RTW 2016 runway.

Prizes worth at least RM350,000 awaits the winner of this competition including a confirmed show segment to showcase his or her full collection at KLFW RTW 2017, mentorship from the KLFW RTW team; RM25,000 sponsored by FashionValet to produce a capsule collection and sold on, 150,000 AirAsia BIG Points, AirAsia or AirAsia X flights, as well as many other prizes which will be announced soon.

Founded by Singaporean fashion stylist Angela Lim, Révolte is a shopping haven for those who have a knack for clean cuts and monochromatic tones. If you like twinning up with your little sister or daughter, check out the Révolte kids collection at the local label’s flagship store.

W Optics

Where: West Wing, #01-400

Take note: W Optics is not like your typical optical store. Spanning over 10,000 square feet, this optical concept store offers an extensive eyewear range, and a unique “shop-in-shop” experience with VIP areas for selected luxury brands that carry collections exclusive to W Optics. Not just that – there is also a spacious sitting area for regular optical seminars, a dedicated children’s corner for specialised kids glasses, plus a specialised eye clinic!

The Bespoke Club

Steering away from the latest trends and conventions, each design strikes a balance between form and function – ideal for the modern everyday women seeking a piece of individuality.

Reebonz (Pop Up)

We’re not sure how long digital luxury shopping boutique Reebonz’s pop-up store will keep their physical presence. We suggest that you head down to have a look and feel of their lavish array of luxury bags and leather goods before it’s gone.


Where: North Wing, #01-477

We love that multi-label lifestyle and fashion concept store MPORIUM is devoted to showcasing Asian-only labels and designers over its 5,000 square feet space. Expect to see Asian womenswear and menswear fashion labels from Singapore (Aijek, Mae Pang, Coupe Cousu) to Thailand (Yod Yoko, ASAVA) and beyond.

Straits Establishment

Where: North Wing #01-467

Another multi-label concept store at Suntec City? We’re not complaining. This time for the boys only, Straits Establishment focuses “on sartorial and heritage inspired menswear and accessories”. We say, gather your other halves and hit the store now!

StarThreeSixty celebrates streetwear fashion from all around. From Japanese leather sneaker brand Springle Move to French sports brand Patrick, StarThreeSixty is where the people who are in-the-know at.
