Remember the time when you went gaga over Captain Yoo in Korean drama series Descendants of the Sun? Or when you sat at the edge of your seat rooting for Billie McKay to clinch the title of MasterChef Australia during its seventh season? It’s television, darlings -- and it’s time we honour them at the 21st Asian Television Awards.
Taking place this Friday on 2nd December 2016 at Suntec City Singapore, the prestigious evening will celebrate the finest in programming, production and performance. From Best Drama Series (nominated titles include Descendants of the Sun and Halfworlds) and Best Reality Show (nominated titles include The Dance Floor 5 and Masterchef Australia Season 7), to Best Original Screenplay and Best Entertainment Presenter/Host, the “live” televised segment the Asian Television Awards 2016 will present 18 out of over 40 award categories.
With Adrian Pang, Alden Richards, Baki Zainal, Fiona Su and Stephanie Carrington helming the stage as the hosts of the evening, the awards ceremony will also showcase a stellar line-up of performers from across the region. Headlining the evening is British pop sensation known for her ‘Boom Clap’ and ‘Break the Rules’ tunes, Charlie XCX. Singaporean singer, songwriter and record producer, JJ Lin -- who recently won the Best Male Mandarin Singer and the Best Composer awards at the 27th Golden Melody Awards this June -- will also make his debut at the show.
