Just recently, we talked about Barbie receiving the prestigious CFDA Fashion Award. But now that the red carpet has rolled on the day of the event itself, it looks like the Mattel doll isn't only the one vying for attention in the style department. Of course, many celebrities and personalities, awardee or not, also posed for the cameras with their most fashionable garbs fit for the glamorous affair. But as always, there are obvious standouts. Ahead, we lined up some of our favourite looks from the CFDA red carpet.
First, let's start with the icon herself. We definitely can't skip out on what Barbie wore to the event — and that is a Diane Von Furstenberg custom gown in black and her signature pink. She also posed alongside a J-Lo doll, who is a fellow honoree in the Fashion category.
Speaking of J.Lo, the artist wowed the crowd with a stunning Ralph Lauren two-piece dress that further proved why her style is CFDA-approved. The custom RL look is composed of a cropped jersey top with hand-embellished crystals and a pleated silk skirt with — wait for it — concealed pockets. Honestly, we need an RTW version of this.
A blazer, a sash, a fanny pack, some trousers, and a pleated skirt sound like a recipe for disaster but Gigi Hadid made it work. Channelling a street-style Cinderella-like vibe with her over-the-top Louis Vuitton ensemble, this may be one of our favourite looks from the model, ever.
Argentinian model and actress Camila Morrone made a case for a classic black-and-white ensemble with her Prabal Gurung gown. Coming from the Pre-Fall 2019 collection of the fashion house, the satin deep V gown with the front sash detailing proves that you can never go wrong with effortless elegance.
Serving us old Hollywood glam with this Christian Siriano combo, Ashley Graham's look has class, sass, and a little bit of pizazz. The combination of the maximalist shoulder detail and the curve-hugging bodice gives us a great silhouette that combines yesteryear's eleganza with today's flair for everything 'extra'.
Another Siriano look that made it on our list is Winnie Harlow's showstopping purple feathered dress. What looks like a couture take on layers and layers of boa, it certainly fits the reign of Camp in today's fashion scene.
