Clozette Girls Bloom With Gucci Flora | Clozette

When it comes to style and overall aura we think of two things: makeup and clothing. However, there is one thing that goes unnoticed by the eyes of others but felt and remembered by the people around you--your signature fragrance.

Fragrance is a big part of your personality as it complements your look, expresses your mood, and helps you create a lasting impression through memorable scents. One spray of your signature scent and one can already identify and relate to you and your style.

With that in mind, Gucci unveils its new, refined floral fragrance collection in tribute to one of its most iconic motifs. Flora by Gucci: The Flora Garden Collection is a bouquet of scents inspired by the House’s renowned Flora pattern fit for the expression of style, grace, and beauty of the women of today such as our very own Clozette Ambassadors Celine, Alene, and Charis

After all, the Flora Garden woman is youthful, enigmatic, beguiling, contemporary, but with a sensitive appreciation of the past. There is more to her than meets the eye as she is a fusion of strength with grace. Each perfume and each colour explores a different bloom and with it a different facet of the alluring Flora Garden woman.

Let us take a look at how these scents express the style and personality of our Clozette Ambassadors as we sit down with them for this exclusive feature. We got them to share how they stand out from the crowd, what inspires them, and their fragrance of choice for the Summer.

How do you let your personality shine through in the photos you share?

I try to follow a theme on my Instagram and I always have a certain quality control over my pictures. If something just isn’t right about the pose or the flat lay, I can take more than a hundred shots of the exact same thing – that’s the effort each bloggers and Instagramers put into their work! As for my personality, I try to speak to my followers on my Instagram captions as though I am conversing with them. Actually, same goes with my blog posts!

What do you think are your stand-out characteristics that make you unique?

Candid and straightforward I suppose? I don’t hide anything I feel strongly against. Also, I try to build a relationship with my followers by chatting with them in the comments section. I respect each and every one of them and I make it a point to thank them for their kind comments. As for trying to stand out, it may sound absolutely cliché but I strongly believe in being yourself! You are what makes you unique and there’s really no one to imitate in order to stand-out.

What or Who inspires you the most? How do you gain inspiration to keep you motivated and inspired in your blogging career?

I always look up to those bloggers who have a passion in writing, and the discipline to keep up the consistent work (for example, posting at least 4-5 times a week). Likewise, I’ll keep my mind open to be inspired by everyone in the Instagram community. I don’t find it a chore or a ‘work’ to keep myself motivated in my blogging career. If it’s truly a passion, no one can force you into it!

Do you think fragrances are a must-have in anyone's beauty stash? Why?

Of course! I don’t ask for more, but one or two if you can afford to. Get that one special unique scent that you find yourself closely affiliated to. Some people say a scent signifies who you are; but for me, I decide that smelling great is more for myself that others.

What would you consider your everyday fragrance?

Something light and refreshing for me, please! Since I don’t really like anything too loud or over the top, my every day fragrance has to be mild and unique. Of course, different occasions may result in a different mood and atmosphere so I may like to have a few options to choose from to suit the mood!

Spring/Summer is the best time for play, what sort of experiences are you looking to create in order to make this spring/summer as memorable as it can be?

I would love to head into a more feminine style and look. I’m keeping everything simple as well, although I try to play with more eyeshadow (for makeup) and accessories. I’m also hoping to travel as much as I can before I start my job full time in August!

What do you think are your stand-out characteristics that make you unique?

I won't deny that my unique facial features thanks to my mixed heritage has allowed me to stand out many times from the crowd. Personality-wise, I believe in just being confident and comfortable in my own shoes; that is the simplest way to shine.

What or Who inspires you the most? How do you gain inspiration to keep you motivated and inspired in your blogging career?

My muse has and always will be Victoria Beckham, most of my fashion choices are inspired by her. Think classy body-contouring dresses in flattering cut, nothing trashy or tacky. For flatlays inspiration, I like to surround myself with pretty pictures from others, listen to my playlists and keep a really stress-free mind before spending the entire day concentrating on them. I don't like forcing myself to snap pictures just to keep up with deadlines (they never come out pretty), but to let inspiration flow.

Do you think fragrances are a must-have in anyone's beauty stash? Why?

Definitely! There's no denying that the right fragrance makes us happy and feel good about ourselves. It ranges from the memories a certain scent invokes, the ability of showing individuality through fragrances that we pick, to completing the outfit or mood of the day.

What do you "look for" in a fragrance? Are you drawn to a specific scent or to an overall 'feel' of a fragrance line--for example, are you enamoured by a fragrance line through its entire packaging?

The overall packaging right down to the brand history is very important to me. When choosing a fragrance, I not only want the scent to be a reflection of personality or mood of the day, I would also like to be able to identify with the branding of the fragrance. I may not always be able to afford high-end clothing and handbags from luxury brands like Gucci, but that doesn't mean I can't own a little of the brand I adore. That's the beauty of cosmetics and fragrances, it allows you to be part of the world without burning a hole in your pocket.

What would you consider your everyday fragrance? Is it something light and refreshing or are you drawn to stronger more notable scents that evoke memories from a particular season? Is your every day fragrance something that reflects who you are?

When I was studying down under, I would choose my perfumes in accordance to the season, something more musky for Winter and floral for Spring. Now that I'm back in sunny Singapore, my everyday perfume would ideally be light and refreshing with a tint of floral like Gucci Flora!

What spring/summer trend are you most excited to try and why? What is it about this trend that makes you want to try it--is it reflective of who you are and your interests?

Natural beauty -- think clean skin with minimal coverage to flaunt the occasional smattering of freckles. I always have an obsession with the perfect skin and this Spring/Summer trend is the best excuse to work on that. Say goodbye to thick makeup and hello to intensive skincare and minimal makeup-- nothing better than being comfortable in your own skin.

How do you let your personality shine through in the photos you share?

To be honest, I don’t exactly “try” hard to ensure that happens in my photos and videos. However, I do think that it is important to be real and share who I really am with my followers. I have been told many times that I have a bubbly personality and that I laugh a lot! So, to me, the best-captured moments are definitely the ones where I am having fun and feeling most natural... smiling and laughing! I guess that just naturally reflects into my photos and videos!

What/Who inspires you the most? How do you gain inspiration to keep you motivated and inspired in your YouTube career?

Jenn Im from Clothes Encounters. She was one of the driving forces that I started to take my channel seriously. Other than that, I gain inspiration from everywhere – magazines, the streets, malls, people, stores – the possibilities are endless!

Do you think fragrances are a must-have in anyone's beauty stash? Why?

Yes, of course! I think fragrances are crucial for anyone – even men! I still remember what my lecturer taught me in my first semester of university. It goes something like this: There are two things that you need to be successful – look good and smell good. And I have to say – she is right!

If a fragrance is to be an extension of your personality, which scent would you pick?

I am definitely a floral girl. Most of my fragrances are all floral scents! But, I have been experimenting with fruity florals these days and I am loving it! Perhaps that kind of reflects my personality and style as well – feminine, chic, playful and fresh!

Do you think your unique personality can be expressed through the fragrance that you pick? After all, scents are highly linked to memory, do you think having a signature scent makes it easier for people to remember you?

I definitely do agree that fragrances have the ability to enhance your personality further and that having a signature scent does make it easier for people to remember you. However, I am all for experimenting! Sometimes, I like to try new scent notes and because of that, I discovered fruity florals – a combination that I have been into these days!

What spring/summer trend are you most excited to try and why? What is it about this trend that makes you want to try it--is it reflective of who you are and your interests?

Bright coloured nail polishes and bold pastels! I love colours and that probably does say a lot about me because I naturally gravitate towards colourful items! By incorporating them into my everyday outfits and makeup, I feel fresh, fun and bold – all at the same time!

Skincare doesn't have to be complicated. It's all about knowing what works for your skin type and understanding your skin's current needs. So when it comes to having clear skin, we always turn to an important skincare step: moisturising our skin.

After all, one of the best ways to take care of your skin is to keep it hydrated with moisturising products that are able to lock-in the moisture and keep your skin plump, healthy, and clear. Dehydrated skin may lead to skin sensitivity that brings about a whole host of skin problems such as dry, flaky skin, and breakouts.

But what type of moisturisers should you be using for your skin type? Dermatologist Dr. Joyce Lim breaks it all down for you in this skin tip video!

What are your skincare secrets? Share it with us in the comment box below!

You may not be aware of it but your skin is actually more fragile than you think. Did you know that your skin can get damaged even if you're staying indoors? Yes. Factors such as air conditioning can dry your skin fast and cause skin irritation.

To add that, you have pollution inside and outside your body-- smoking and haze are the usual culprits behind those imperfections. And lastly, the sun. UV rays are harmful to your skin and can cause skin pigmentation, skin ageing, and other skin problems such as skin cancer or infections.

Check out this video to know which environmental factors affect your skin.

So when you're faced with concerns such as these, prevention is your best bet. Take care of your skin as early as now. The basic advice would be to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Try to sleep 6-8 hours a day, eat healthy dishes, and skip junk food. Exercise regularly and do things that make you happy. Being healthy is best when both the mind and body are both at peace.

Another would be on the skincare side--cleanse, tone, and moisturise. Those are three vital steps that you have to do twice daily, once in the morning and once at night before you sleep. It's also best to use products that fit your skin type so as not to further promote skin complications. Purchase those that are recommended and approved by dermatologists, and those that have the proper ingredients to address your skin concerns.
