Cool Japan Launch Party: Inspiring, Fascinating, Delightful | Clozette

The secret is out: after months of hard work behind the scenes, we have finally launched Cool Japan!

A new initiative in partnership with the Cool Japan Fund, a public-private fund under the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan (METI), the Cool Japan ecosystem is designed to bring everything that is inspiring, fascinating, and delightful about the Land of the Rising Sun to our part of the world.

Our Cool Japan section ( is live and ready for you to discover Japan’s beauty and fashion trends, explore the country’s unique culture and get tips on being a savvy traveller. As a member of our community, you can definitely join the conversation, too! Just use #CoolJapan together with #Clozette whenever you share your Japanese adventures on your socials.

We also can’t wait to explore how we can work even more closely with partners through our multi-lingual, omni-channel Cool Japan Ecosystem to promote Japanese fashion, beauty, food, travel, lifestyle, design, and culture. In addition to Cool Japan content, we aim to connect Japan with Southeast Asia and beyond through a myriad of avenues designed to engage today’s consumers effectively and enrich the way they interact with brands.

To celebrate this momentous milestone, we invited valued industry friends and community members to join us as we unveiled Cool Japan together with our partners from the Cool Japan Fund. We kicked off the launch party with a festive kagami biraki sake barrel opening ceremony at The Spot in Marina One, symbolizing the beginning of a new endeavour and the strengthening of friendship.

The monsoon season a.k.a. the rainy season has officially begun in most parts of Asia now, and we all know what that means as for our choice in footwear. We need pairs that will help us handle the weather and still ace the day in style. Thanks to today’s innovations in fashion, there are now a lot of water-resistant shoes aside from the usual bulky rain boots we grew up with. Check out some of our favourites.

Aigle Women’s Miss Juliette Bottillon Wellington Boots

This pair of sexy and sleek rain boots with heels for women has a five-star rating on Amazon for a reason. Aigle Women’s Miss Juliette Bottillon Wellington Boots are made of rubber and are manufactured by hand in France. It comes in colours of black, brown, green, auburn, amber, and navy. Get a pair here and match them with your favourite jeans and parka, or even with your favourite dress.

Melissa Doll III

At least once in a woman’s life, she has tried wearing a dress on a rainy day and felt the challenge of finding flats that will achieve the sweet look but also survive the downpour. This pair of doll shoes from Melissa named Doll III is perfect for that. It looks romantic, has a round-toe form, and is very feminine because it is topped with a metallic ribbon. But most importantly, it’s made of PVC inside and out, which will keep your feet dry and comfortable. Shop your own pair here.

Dr. Martens’ 1460 PRIDE

This unisex pair of 8-eye rainbow boots from Dr. Martens called 1460 PRIDE doesn’t simply and literally turn one’s gloomy day to a colourful one but also represent something meaningful. Walk with pride and stand tall with the LGBTQ community with this pair while matching it with a black or white shirt and your favourite jeans. It’s made durable and fashionable using high-quality materials that can also handle the rain.

Muji’s Water Repellant Organic Cotton Sneakers

It’s a must to include these Water Repellant Organic Cotton Sneakers from Muji in your rainy day essentials. These kicks come in low and high-cut type, fitted with removable cupped insoles that cuddle your feet firmly. The best feature of this pair? It’s pre-treated with water-repellent technology so you won’t have to worry about puddles staining its fabric. With its classic design and mono-colour, you can wear it to sport your favourite athleisure or casual wear. Also, check how affordable it is here.

Sam Edelman Tinsley Rain Boot

It’s not difficult to fall in love with this take on the Chelsea boots from Sam Edelman, the Tinsley Rain Boot. It's got pretty colours and elegant form. It has an inch of heels to add a bit of height but does not compromise comfort with its padded footbed inside. Wear them how you usually wear your suede Chelseas — with jeans and a shirt or a dress for a casual look or be bold and go boho under the rain with a long skirt. Take a closer look at these boots here.

Another month has come. Beat the Monday blues and take a quick break by reading the latest updates in the worlds of fashion and beauty. These hottest bites will surely give you excitement that lasts all week long. From Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas’ second wedding to the latest fashion releases — catch up on everything that happened over the weekend here.

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas’ second wedding makes us swoon

After their surprise nuptials in Vegas last May, the power couple tied the knot once again in an elegant affair last weekend. Their celebration took place in two castles located in Sarrians, France: Château du Martinay for the ceremony and Château de Tourreau (which you can rent on AirBnb) for the reception. Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas’ second wedding was reportedly much simpler. White flowers and candles adorned the aisle as the Game of Thrones actress walked down in a long lace dress with light makeup. Photos have yet to turn up, but the ceremony was quite emotional, with the couple tearing up as they said their vows.

The trailer for the new Charlie’s Angels’ is finally here

You hear that right — the classic ‘70s series, after getting remade into a film back in 2000, is getting yet another reboot this year. Directed by Elizabeth Banks, who appeared in Hunger Games and Pitch Perfect, this version promises that it’s quite going to be different this time around. This version — which stars Kirsten Stewart, Naomi Scott, Ella Balinska, and Noah Centineo — is getting quite mixed reactions online. Whether it would be as fun as it looks in the trailer, we’ll just have to see when it comes out in theatres this November.
