Halloween Looks You Can Do Without SFX Makeup

Spook and scare minus the hassle

It's no denying that Halloween is one of the most anticipated days of the year before the Christmas season. And as we become adults, it evolved from just a simple trick-or-treat activity into a full-on celebration of creativity. If you're not one who's into special effects and prosthetics for the occasion, take your pick from some of the looks we listed. They're sure to bring in the spooks, minus the added effort.

Pennywise from the movie 'It'

Last year, everybody went as Suicide Squad's Harley Quinn. This year, for sure, it's all about Pennywise The Dancing Clown from Stephen King's It.  If you're up for a look that's recognisable, creepy, but easy to recreate with your own makeup stash, this is the one for you.

Ventriloquist doll

Ventriloquists may be fun and fascinating to watch but there's just something about puppets that can be both cute and eerie. It makes for a quick and easy Halloween look as this one just needs a bit of exaggeration of your usual routine.

Skeleton queen

Why be a regular skeleton when you can be the one who rules them all? No need for SFX for this look, just your typical contour kit, eyeshadow, liners and yes, lots of highlighter!

Glamorous mermaid

If you're not so much for scaring but more into a whimsical look, what better way to show it off on Halloween than to be a mermaid? This tutorial uses fishnet stockings to get the scales on point, but don't fret if you don't have those! Our pro tip is to get the mesh bags that come with apples or mini oranges the next time you go to the grocery. Use the mesh bag for the scales to achieve the same effect.

Your spirit animal

The thing with Halloween is that you can take inspiration from almost anything. So why not embody your spirit animal quite literally for the occasion? From bunnies to pandas to almost every woodland creature, there's an easy look that you can cop using your daily makeup. For us, we're all about sweetness and grace so this doe look is just perfect!
