Here Are India's Must-Visit Sites | Clozette

The idea of visiting India may conjure up grand visions of the Taj Mahal, get you thinking of the scores of people on the banks of the Ganges River, and street snacks with steaming cups of tea from the local chaiwallas, but those are not all that India has to offer. Let us show you the wonders you have to check out when you plan a trip to this beautiful country.

Cool weather is not something one generally associates with India but this glittering gem, located in the northeastern Himalayas, offers visitors a chance to experience a laid-back holiday enjoying breathtaking panoramas of the snow-capped mountains or an exciting adventure filled with scenic hiking trails and white water rafting.

Home to the Taj Mahal, the eternal symbol of love, Agra is not to be missed. The city attracts locals and tourists alike, thanks to an abundance of impressive Mughal architecture and lively markets full of handicrafts that reflect the region. Don’t forget to make time to immerse yourself in the love of Shah Jahan and Noor Jahan at the Kalakriti Cultural and Convention Centre.

The bustling capital of India features a slew of heritage monuments, buzzing bazaars and mouth-watering street foods that remind you of its impressive Mughal past, but as you turn a corner, you’ll find contemporary offerings of any major city — shopping boulevards, luxury hotels and fancy restaurants — plenty to see and even more to do.

Known as ‘The Land of Golden Sand’, it’s a city known for its rich cultural heritage and bravery of its past Rajput rulers. Set amidst the sands of the Thar Desert, Jaisalmer offers you the grandeur of the Jaisalmer Fort, the charisma of the Salim ji ki Haveli, as well as the exhilarating experience of sand dune bashing.

Spiritualism plays a huge part in Indian culture, and what better place to immerse yourself than the holy city of Varanasi. Situated on the banks of the sacred Ganga, the city is believed to be over 5000 years old. Do as the locals do and absolve yourself of sins in the waters of the Ganga, pay homage to Lord Shiva at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple, or simply take a walk as you watch life go by along the ghats — you might just fall in love.

Looking at Tokyo as another one of your future destinations? Make sure you don't miss these Instagrammable spots found in Japan's bustling capital.

And in 2019, another odd throwback style is taking centre stage. Unexpectedly, sporty sandals are now cool. Who would have thought? Right now, your feelings may still be mixed but these cute pieces are bound to change your mind.

No prizes guessing where we wandered off to for the second stop of our annual tea party after Singapore: right “next door”, Malaysia! With the buzz of last October’s gathering with members of our community still fresh in our minds, this April’s session saw us getting acquainted with new faces on top of meeting a handful of our most supportive Clozetters.

Our digital wanderers came together at Happ Café (where we welcomed our community to step into their new Clozette two years ago) and were treated to a delightful afternoon tea along with a series of fun activities that perfectly defined the essence of our regular get-togethers. Guests adorned their hands with a Baby-G by Casio showcase and EMMEzing NAILS DIY nail polish wraps; got their LANEIGE Layering Cover Cushions personalised with calligraphy; and were treated to a scalp analysis by Ryo Hair.

But that’s not all, of course. There were delicately wrapped mini floral bouquets, beauty pouch customisation with stick-on patches, temporary tattoos, and finally, a goodie bag to bring home and remember the party by. And for the lucky ones: three guests got to walk away with a Baby-G by Casio watch each, while one winner scored a one-night staycation for two courtesy of Sheraton Imperial Kuala Lumpur. Keep scrolling to see our event highlights.
