We’re halfway through April! How crazy is that? We’re well into summer, folks. What are your plans? Heading off to an exotic location or just staying at home for a bit of staycation? Well, our minds are on both, plus the latest and most interesting stuff that’s been happening in the worlds of fashion and beauty.

Let’s all get ourselves a dose of what’s in the news this week.

Michelle is back

After a year-long hiatus from making YouTube videos and posting on social media, Michelle Phan is back in the game. And she’s bringing her reborn makeup line with her to boot. After acquiring Em Cosmetics from L’Oreal, Phan is re-launching the brand, streamlined with liquid lipsticks and eyeliners.

Enniful is EIC

Former W Magazine head Edward Enniful will be at the helm of British Vogue. The announcement comes a couple of months after Alexandra Shulman exited the publication.

Fashion for change

Lebanese-born, Canada-raised Celine Semaan wants to shed a light on the plights of refugees through fashion. Check out her latest amazing collection.

Foundation for sunburn?

While we’re more inclined to treat a sunburn first before doing anything — slather on that aloe vera gel to soothe the burn — we can’t say we’re not impressed by how well the Too Faced Born This Way foundation performed on a woman who covered her sunburnt skin with it.

Cherry Blossom Float

McDonald’s Japan is releasing limited edition Sakura McFloat in time for cherry blossom season. Pink and yummy? Colour us piqued!

For women who are always on the go, choosing between sleep and getting your makeup on point in mornings is a major decision. And of course, doing your makeup while in transit isn't exactly the safest or most practical option either. But who said you have to compromise either, especially at this day and age?

As always, we've got you covered. Read on as we list down beauty products that can double up their use to cut down your prep time.

Stick foundations as concealers

Unlike liquid foundations, stick foundations need less product and building up to provide the coverage you need. When it has the right formula, a stick foundation glides on smoothly. A tip: use paddle brushes when you blend these for faster application or use your trusty fingers.

Lip and cheek tint

Lip and cheek tints make you look put-together in a jiffy, giving that fresh blushed look and softly bitten lips without having to use too many products.

Bronzer and blush in one

A sun-kissed, peachy look is perfect for any time of the year, especially in tropical countries. So stipple on a bit of blush on the apple of your cheeks, and if has a little bit of shimmer, then you got yourself soft highlight, too.

Cream eyeshadow as eyeshadow primer and pigment in one

Want your eyeshadow to really pop but have no primer in hand? No problem! Cream eyeshadows work amazing as an eyeshadow base or even just on their own, so you never have to leave your lids bare if you're in a hurry.

Eyebrow powder as contour

Often cool-toned, eyebrow powder usually has the right amount of pigment for giving a naturally contoured look. The small pan also helps control the product that comes to your brush, preventing overly harsh lines before blending.

Have a few more minutes to spare? Here's how to match your makeup to your outfit.

Summer is upon us! Whether you’re out enjoying fun activities (think frolicking by the beach and swimming to your heart’s content) or out and about in-between appointments on a workday, it’s always a good time to enjoy the warm weather.

However, with how hot the weather can be, thinking of keeping our look fresh and presentable may seem daunting. But with just a few edits to your beauty routine, you can definitely summer-proof your look. Here are just a few pointers you can take note of.

Scrub lightly

We’re all for exfoliating the skin to slough off dead skin cells and prepare it to get the benefits of the skincare products you’ll be applying next. But since the sun is warmer than usual during this period, exfoliating the skin can also make the skin more sensitive to harmful UV rays. We say: continue to get renewed skin, but maybe limit your exfoliating session to once a week.

Get the summer glow with skincare

You don’t have to forgo makeup if you don’t want to! Don’t let the heat of summer stop you from wearing face colour. Just remember: first, you must prep your skin right. Achieve glowing skin with the help of the SK-II Genoptics Aura Essence. This milky essence, made with PITERA-infused GenOptics Aura Complex, targets visible and invisible spots for skin that’s spotless and radiant.

Spritz to even out caked-up makeup

When it comes to makeup in our humid weather, you should opt for long-lasting formulas and waterproof products. Then, seal the deal by spritzing on some SK-II Mid-Day Miracle Face Essence. This PITERA-enriched essence spray helps moisturise your skin even with makeup on, so it’s also perfect for touch-ups within the day.

Ditch the pencils

Make sure you don’t get raccoon eyes by letting go of your pencil eyeliners for the meantime and switching to felt-tip liners. If you’re still keen on using pencils, make it last longer and smudge-free by topping it off with eye shadow.

Fight frizz

Your skin is set, but you’re not quite ready yet; don’t forget about your crowning glory! Give your hair the TLC it needs by switching to a cooling shampoo that moisturises your hair from root to tips. Instead of a heavy conditioner, try a leave-in one or a mist.
