Taylor Swift showed support for equality for Pride month

In the past years, the singer has avoided voicing out her political opinions, much to the disappointment of some fans. That’s why her recent activities come as a welcome surprise to all. In honour of Pride month this June, the singer takes to Instagram to share her advocacy. Taylor Swift showed support for equality by posting a letter to a Tennessee Senator and her followers to urge them to fight for the Equality Act. Aside from that, the singer wore a rainbow-coloured ensemble at her 2019 iHeartRadio Wango Tango performance. Whether she’ll speak about other issues soon, only time will tell.

Beyoncé channels the Lion Queen at the Wearable Art Gala

It’s not until next month shall we see Disney’s live-action adaptation of Lion King on the silver screen, but we’re already treated to a real-life Lion Queen, courtesy of Queen Bey. Beyoncé channelled her character, Nala, as she attended the recent Wearable Art Gala. The singer came to the event wearing a gold sequined catsuit with a big lion on the bodice. Hosted by the singer's mum, Tina Knowles-Lawson, the annual event had “A Journey to the Pride Lands” as its theme to celebrate the upcoming film. The singer took things up a notch by posting a clip of her daughter, Blue Ivy, lip-syncing to The Circle of Life.

Lush launches their first-ever makeup brush collection

Woman uses a vegan brush to apply makeup

Lush has always been there to depend on if we’re in search of eco-friendly beauty products. As if that wasn’t enough, the brand decided to extend its range and produce make-up brushes. This new collection will be vegan and 100 per cent cruelty-free, made up of recyclable and biodegradable materials. These makeup brushes, however, stray from the colourful and glittery theme their products always seem to have. All are plain black-and-gold, but they’re surely looking luxurious and soft to touch.

Keep yourself up-to-date with last week's news

This month marks an iconic moment for the LGBTQ+ community because it's the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall uprising. The 1969 riot — that started the morning of 28 June and ended 1 July — played a big role in the gay liberation movement against police brutality and social prejudice. It became the fire that ignited conversations and advocacies towards fighting for LGBTQ+ rights that translated up to today. And for this very reason that we celebrate Pride Month all over the world in June.

Pride has transformed into a brighter movement, with people all over the world sharing messages of love and endurance. And yes, even our favourite beauty brands show support by launching Pride-related limited releases with profits pledged for LGBTQ+ initiatives. Curious? Here's a look at some of the beauty brands supporting #PRIDE2019 that you wouldn't want to miss.

Everyone's favourite beauty sponge not only changed their logo colours for the month but also announced in full rainbow effect their latest initiative for Pride. Promising to donate 10 per cent of the proceeds of their Pride collection to LGBTQ projects via the Human Rights Campaign, their official announcement also notes that one's unique self-expression is important because "the only thing that should blend in about you is your foundation." We saw what you did there, Beautyblender!

Marc Jacobs Beauty

Love MJB products? Then why not add this glamorously glossy collection to your next shopping spree? The brand's bestselling Enamored Dazzling Gloss Lip Lacquer collection introduces six new shades just for Pride Month. Ten percent of the proceeds from 6 June to 10 July 2019 will go to Sage, an organisation supporting older members of the LGBTQ+ community. We're already eyeing shades Tempt Me (second from the top) and Not Sorry (fourth from the top). How about you?

Milk Makeup

The New York-based makeup brand just launched their Wear Your Pride beauty set and we are ecstatic. With a full-sized Glitter Stick, one mini Holographic Stick in Stardust, a mini Kush Mascara and a limited edition rainbow Milk Makeup pouch, not only is this the perfect glow travel kit you'll ever own at a discounted rate (USD28 for a USD52 value), 100 per cent of the net proceeds of this collection goes to the LGBT Center, one of the biggest organisations working towards LGBTQ+ rights.

Urban Decay

It takes boldness to embrace your true self and that's how these UD Heavy Metal Glitter Liners make us feel. Donating 25 per cent of the purchase price to The Stonewall Foundation — yes, the one built to commemorate the Stonewall Riots — Urban Decay wants these liners to inspire everyone to Sparkle Out Loud and be their best and beautiful selves, no holds barred.

Tarte Cosmetics

Teaming up with Jessie Paege, a YouTuber who came out as bisexual last year and a known advocate for the LGBTQ+ community, Tarte launched its Let It Rain-bow eyeshadow palette in time for Pride Month.  All the shades not only boast great colour pay-off but also inspire with encouraging words through their shade names. But that's not all — the brand also pledged USD25,000, regardless of product sales, to The Trevor Project, an organisation focused on suicide prevention for the LGBTQ youth.
