Here's A K-Fan's Hallyu Style Essentials | Clozette

'The K-Files' is a special series for our K-Culture issue where we talk to true blue K-fans about their favourites — from movies to music to beauty and everything fun and wonderful from the Land of the Morning Calm.

My name is Farrah Espina and I was born in the mid-'90s. I started my blog in November 2014 to share my love for Korean beauty and fashion hoping that people will relate to it. Aside from blogging, I run a K-style inspired webstore called Happymallow

Beginnings, inspirations, and personal style icons

[My love for K-style] began when I started following K-pop and K-drama celebs during my freshman year. I would save photos of my fave K-pop idols like Jessica and Krystal Jung's airport fashion on my laptop simply because I love how effortlessly chic they are.

Aside from Jessica and Krystal, I also love Weightlifting Fairy star Lee Sung Kyung's fashion.

Style staples in nailing K-style

If I were to narrow down my wardrobe into five pieces that best represents K-style, they would be a plain white tee since it's a classic piece that will never go out of style; a denim jacket, which is a timeless piece that can make your outfit look like you made an effort; a denim skirt, which goes well with any shirt or blouse; white sneakers, which also goes with any outfit and is comfy to wear all the time; and lastly, a tote canvas bag which is a K-style staple that can fit everything you need!

Fashion designer Bill Blass is known for saying, "Whenever in doubt, wear red." We can definitely see the allure of this fiery shade; it's bold, beautiful and draws attention. You can even say that it takes guts to sport a crimson outfit. But with the right styling, any lady can wear red with confidence.
