Whether it’s sunny or rainy, flat sandals will always be a must-have for everyone. Why? It’s one of the easiest shoes to style and is the most wearable all-year round.

Which is why when I was asked to choose my favourite items from, I was immediately drawn towards these Miu Miu slide sandals with a suede fringe!

Style is all about being comfortable and chic, and these fringed sandals are exactly that. Of course, when it came to pairing these with my outfits, the possibilities were endless. But for my first outfit wearing it, I went for a classic denim-on-denim look to give it that casual yet elegant vibe.

Apart from the edgy sandals, I also picked out this sleek bracelet from Marc Jacobs.

Anyone that knows me well or follows me on Instagram will know that I have a huge love for stacking bracelets and bangles, and creating various “arm swag” worthy looks. I personally love how arm candies can immediately amp up any look to make it more polished – the perfect finishing touch for my denim-on-denim ensemble!

I also noticed other statement items on, which I am dying to get my hands on. However, I’m going to have to contain myself because if I don’t, my bank account will be empty (yikes)!

But for the rest of you who are wondering, these are the items that are on my wishlist:

Michael Kors laced shoes in Silver Leather

Gogo Philip's statement ring

Can you imagine how fun these will be to wear? I’m already coming up with outfits in my head!

While we were in Kuala Lumpur for KL Fashion Week, we caught up with some of the designers backstage and got them chatting about the inspiration behind their collection and the process it takes to create a collection for Fashion Week.

So if you've ever wanted a peek into the creativity behind fashion design and get to know the designers making waves in and around Asia, then watch the video below!

Sazzy Falak

"I wanted to create a collection about what I think women are. For me, the beautiful thing about being a woman is that you can be all sorts of things. You can be feminine, soft, gentle, loving, tender; and at the same time you can be powerful, strong, edgy, determined...and that's what I wanted to put in my designs." - Sazzy Falak

Kit Woo

"The inspiration behind the collection is based on an american sculptor John Chamberlain. He uses crash cars and translates that into sculptures. So I used that medium to destroy my clothes and put it back together." - Kit Woo

"We're inspired by street-styles and we're not conceptually based. So we did a lot of earthy tones, we did a lot of dark blues...and we felt that there are a lot of pieces you can style really well in the collection and wear in many different ways." - Tengku Chanela Jamidah

Melinda Looi

"This collection is called Life Is A Maze -- because to me life is a maze, you have to keep searching and looking for the right direction and a way to get be better. You can also see our signature print in the collection as well as how i do my embellishments." - Melinda Looi

Kittie Yiyi

"My inspiration is of a mermaid going up onto the shore and exploring the world and the life above the sea. I used a lot pastel colour because I think a mermaid should be a very romantic girl but at the same time should not have a romantic attitude, so I applied a bit of rebellious style in my collection. " - Kittie Yiyi.

Ask anyone who’s ever gone to Fashion Week and they’ll all tell you the same thing – that it’s hectic and oh so fun. What with multiple fashion shows per day being held at odd hours, mingling with fellow fashion lovers, and everyone rocking their best and most daring ensembles, it’s easy to understand why.

And since our editors, Lystra Aranal (ClozetteINSIDER) and Becks Ko (GlamAsia), were front row fixtures during KL Fashion Week Ready To Wear 2016, it’s safe to say they know a thing or two about surviving a week of runways, models, and designers.

So if you want to pick up a few tips and tricks on how to survive Fashion Week, then keep reading ahead as they share their beauty secrets, fashion show must-haves, and choosing their outfits for each day!

With more than 3 fashion shows scheduled per day, how do you choose which ones to attend?

Lystra: It's really down to picking the designers and collections that are in line with Clozette's readership interest. So I picked designers that are very wearable and edgy. But at the same time, it's important to catch shows that are more experimental, a bit more formal and a bit more couture -- just to get a better picture of what fashion is like over there. But as with any fashion event, always make time for the opening and the closing shows. It's a good way to get a holistic experience of the event without attending every single show.

Becks: We try to have a good balance of the new, the up-and-coming, and the veterans. We are always on a lookout for new talents, so we definitely mixed in a few of these shows here and there - like Kit Woo, and The AirAsia Show that featured a new wave of designers from around the region - to lend our support for the ever-growing fashion scene in Southeast Asia. The highly raved shows of the season - like Melinda Looi and Alia Bastamam - are, of course, a must-watch.

Sleep becomes a luxury during Fashion Week. So how do you maintain a fresh and wide-awake appearance?

Lystra: Before bed, I made sure to put on a super moisturising night cream or an overnight face mask -- basically anything that pumps moisture back into the skin. So the skincare I brought along with me was tailored to keep my skin well hydrated. Then it's all about relying on a good concealer, dewy foundation, and a brightening eye makeup look to "fake" well-rested appearance.

Becks: I make sure I’m doing enough to take care of my skin for as long as I am asleep, so I always smear on a sleeping mask to allow my skin to get as much nourishment it needs for the gruelling fashion week hours. Coffee is an essential, but don’t forget to stay hydrated by loading up on your H20. Oh, and a really, really good concealer and lipstick to seal the deal.

Things can get pretty hectic and stressful during this week, which can wreak havoc on your skin. So when you just need to relax and take care of your skin, what are the products you use?

Lystra: Whenever I travel, I always bring along a clay mask. My favourite is the Innisfree Super Volcanic Pore Clay Mask. I use it whenever I feel like my skin needs a good deep clean. I usually follow that up with a sheet mask or a brightening serum like The Body Shop Drops Of Light Brightening Serum. And if my skin really needs a good pampering treat but I have no time for a full on 10-step skincare routine, I'll use the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate. It has Lavender Essential Oils in it which lull me to sleep too! It's like a spa in a bottle!

Becks: For my overnight skin nourishment, Laneige Water Sleeping Mask is a mainstay in my beauty arsenal. The IOMA Lip Lift, which contains Hyaluronic acid and Cupuaco Butter, not only hydrates my sensitive lips - it also plumps up the lips. Lastly, my trusty Methode Brigitte Kettner Anti-Blemish Balm for spot treatments, just in case I get a pimple or two amongst the craziness.

Name your top 3 must-haves for Fashion Week.

Lystra: A comfortable pair of heels that won't kill me as I rush from show to show; a powerbank to keep my phone charged so my runway coverage isn't interrupted; and a red lippie -- because it's the easiest thing to swipe on and goes well with everything!

Becks: A statement bag that is big enough for my basic essentials and compact enough to not be too bulky, a coloured lippie for a fresh face, and my phone paired with Internet connectivity. How can we share the fun stuff with our community without social media?

Let’s talk about Fashion Week outfits now. How do you choose your looks for each day? Do you keep trends in mind or do you stick to your personal style?

Lystra: I definitely stuck to my own personal style but also based my outfits on my to-do list for the day. So I would dress-up a bit more if I'll be catching a show, then I'd wear something a bit more comfy for when I'm running around doing backstage coverage. Dressing up for me usually means structured skirts and a fitted top paired with strappy heels. My backstage coverage style was flowy culottes, a statement sweater, and sneakers. I tried not to overthink my outfits. I just went with what I'm comfortable with.

Becks: The most important thing is to be comfortable in your own skin. Trends or not, that’s when confidence shine through. Other than dressing for the agenda (will I be doing backstage coverage, or will I just be enjoying the runway show?), I also dress according to my mood a lot. No matter what, I always make sure to shake things up a bit to suit my personal style.

To sum things up, what’s the best advice you can give to someone attending their first Fashion Week event?

Lystra: Don't forget to eat and stay hydrated! It's so easy to get lost in the excitement and forget to feed and hydrate yourself. That's something I constantly always forget every fashion week, so this is really a reminder for myself too.

Becks: Never mind about what you think about the fashion week crowd or festivities - you do you. Don’t forget to enjoy yourself, and if you’re sitting front row… never block the person sitting next to you while you’re busy snapping pictures away! It’s fashion week etiquette.
