A Toast To Beauty: Drinks To Make Your Skin Glow

Natural beauty elixirs

If you’re like us who devour YouTube makeup tutorials, chances are you’ve encountered YouTube mavens drinking something off a pack in the middle of their cosmetics application and got super curious what it is.

Well, we’ve done our research and it turns out that these “beauty juice”packs are collagen drinks — among those Hollywood’s secrets to “prevent” ageing, or to keep skin and hair beautiful. Actresses like Jennifer Aniston are said to combine her collagen drinks with regular smoothies, while some prefer to drink it straight, describing the juice as similar to lemon water.

There are some well-known brands of collagen drinks sold in shopping websites like Newmoon Inner Radiance Collagen; Kinohimitsu collagen and glutathione drink; and St. Ana collagen.

These collagen drinks are generally fine, but know that there are natural alternatives to beauty drinks that are more accessible and also easy to prepare. If you want some natural refreshments that can keep your skin young, clear and beautiful, check out the following options:

Carrot and beetroot juice

Bright colours are a good sign for juice drinks, and for this one, the combination of carrot and beetroot makes it even more powerful. The purple beet is rich in potassium, zinc, folic acid, manganese and Vitamin C which are nutrients known to purify blood and remove impurities. Carrot, on the other hand, has Vitamin A, which is known for its anti-ageing properties that fight acne, wrinkles and uneven skin tone. The two ingredients definitely make a powerful beauty elixir!

Fresh tomato juice

Tomato is known for its antioxidant properties, making its fresh juice the perfect beauty drink. Tomato juice is said to help reduce signs of premature ageing which includes the lightening of wrinkles and fine lines. Not only that, tomatoes are known to help minimise pores and reduce sebum, which are the culprit behind oiliness. Pass the bloody marys!

Papaya juice

Have you ever wondered why many beauty soaps use papaya as a key ingredient? This is because of papain, which helps lighten skin and removes impurities to reveal clear and bright skin. Regularly drinking papaya juice can help make the skin soft and glowing.

Ginger lemon juice

Ginger and lemon juice is not just an ideal drink when you’re suffering from sniffles or sore throat. This powerful combination is a good beauty juice that keeps skin looking healthy. Ginger has potassium and niacin, which are essential nutrients that the body needs to stay healthy. A good dose of ginger and lemon (which is rich in vitamin C) is sure to keep skin always blooming.

Water

No need to look further. Water not only keeps your skin hydrated, it also flushes out toxins and impurities that cause breakouts and dull-looking skin. Make sure that you get to drink at least eight glasses of water daily from morning until night to keep the complexion looking fresh and radiant!
