The Netflix TUDUM event held a lot of surprises for viewers around the world. Aside from appearances from various Netflix stars, we also got our first looks at the upcoming seasons of popular titles such as Stranger Things, Bridgerton, and The Witcher just to name a few. Already feeling excited? Here are some of the show teasers that were shown during the TUDUM: A Netflix Global Fan Event.
Stranger Things Season 4
Since Season 3 ended in July 2019, fans have been eagerly waiting for updates on the next season. After the show has dropped some tidbits here and there over the past couple of years, we were given a better look at the fourth season during the Netflix TUDUM event. The one-and-half minute long show teaser introduces us to a new mysterious location called the Creel House.
In the teaser trailer, we watch as a suburban family moves into a house that has creepy vibes. It’s not surprising that the trailer highlights a location rather than a plotline, though, since clips that were uploaded over the past few months took us to Russia and an asylum. We can only wait until the whole show arrives in 2022 to have all these fully explained.
Bridgerton Season 2
If you caught the Bridgerton fever when it was first released in December last year, get ready for another season of banter and flirting when it comes out in 2022. To tide us all over until then, Shondaland and Netflix treated us to a teaser of the season’s main couple’s first meeting. It shows Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) being berated by Kate Sharma (played by Simone Ashley from Sex Education) for his presumably demeaning views on women. From the charged conversation, we know we’re in for an enemies-to-lovers story.
The TV adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman comics has had people on the edge of their seats ever since it was announced in 2019 and, now, they’ve finally seen a snippet of the new Netflix series. To give you a short overview, the book covers the events after Morpheus, the Lord of Dreams, was captured by mankind and the trials he faces after escaping captivity. The first look video, which you can watch above, shows a mage leading a summoning circle to capture Death yet unintentionally capturing Morpheus (Tom Sturridge) in the process. The cast includes Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), Jenna Coleman (Victoria), Gwendolyn Christie (Game of Thrones), Kirby Howell-Baptiste (The Good Place), and Boyd Holbrook (Narcos).
One of the few trailers that were shown in the event was Arcane, an animated series from the creators of the mobile game League of Legends. The series will depict the origins of the game’s fan-favourite champions Vi (Hailee Steinfeld) and Jinx (Ella Purnell) — two sisters from the oppressed underground city of Zaun who later became foes. The show will premiere on 6 November on Netflix.
The Witcher Season 2
Netflix ended its TUDUM event with several show teaser clips for the high fantasy show The Witcher, which is currently filming its second season. Henry Cavill steps back into the shoes of the witcher Geralt of Rivia for another season filled with magic, action, and fantasy. ICYDK, witchers are once-normal humans that were turned into superhuman monster hunters-for-hire. They face a lot of prejudice, though, so Geralt is pretty leery of human relationships. The new season sees him taking charge of Ciri (Freya Allan), a princess prophesied to have the potential to destroy the world. How Geralt plays into it can be a mystery to those who haven’t read the books, played the games, or watched the first season. So until the first episode of Season 2 drops, take the time to bingewatch Season 1 to catch up!
