We all love indulging in beauty treatments and following our skincare regimens, but we also have to admit that sometimes we just don’t have the time for anything elaborate. That’s where hacks come in. Designed to make our beauty routine a bit easier to do, as beauty sleuths, our interests were naturally piqued. We gave five hacks a try and here’s how they fare.

A 3-Minute Hair Miracle

Our sceptic senses were tingling upon reading the word “miracle”. The Pantene 3-Minute Miracle Hair Conditioner, formulated with Pro-V Complex and an enhanced cationic polymer with up to 80% conditioning ingredients, helps to repair hair damage and reveal tresses that are healthier, stronger and shinier in just three minutes.

Did it work? We tried the Total Damage Control variant and while the claims are quite grand, we were floored to see the results. It works! We all know how we feel like a conditioner is working because the hair is smooth to the touch. But with the Pantene 3-Minute Hair Miracle Conditioner, you don’t just feel the results, you actually see them. Hair is visibly smoother and sleeker after just three minutes – we’re impressed!

Vaseline as lip makeup remover

Many people use Vaseline petroleum jelly as a moisturiser for chapped lips, but there are also those who claim the product is great at removing lip products. We put it to the test and tried removing lipstick with its help.

Did it work? It worked really well. It removed the lipstick perfectly without too much effort. There were no scratching or heavy wiping involved, so it’s great for those who have sensitive lips. If you’re wearing harder-to-remove lip makeup, try leaving your Vaseline on longer before wiping off with tissue.

Red lipstick as a colour-corrector

It’s a hack that has polarising reviews, so we just had to try it for ourselves to see what the real deal is. We applied red lipstick to hopefully brighten undereye circles before we put a layer of concealer on.

Did it work? We’re happy to report that it actually worked. The after-effect looks airbrushed, and the lines under the eyes are not as visible. It was definitely brighter than just using concealer. We say, try this if you don’t have a colour-correcting product on hand. But you might want to go easy on the red lippie.

Ice water as quick dry for nail polish

We all know how hard it is to be rendered immobile for 10 to 15 minutes while waiting for nail polish to dry. So we scoured for a time-saving solution and found the ice water hack. The trick is to dip your newly painted nails in ice-cold water for about a minute. After that, you’ll have dry nails.

Did it work? Sadly, this didn’t work for us, and it’s not worth the pain. Our fingers felt frozen from dipping and the nail polish came right off.

Powder lashes for volume

We all dream of having perfectly curled, fluttery lashes. As an instant hack, many people say you can put powder after a coat of mascara and top it off again with mascara to make your lashes get more volume.

Did it work? It did… kind of. After trying it out, we say it works depending on the mascara you use. We suggest using a lengthening mascara instead of a volumising one to avoid clumps.

We say, try out these hacks and tell us how they fare! We strongly recommend trying out the Pantene 3-Minute Miracle Conditioner and let it speak for itself. The Pantene 3-Minute Miracle Conditioner is available at selected stores of leading retailers. You can also find it on Redmart.

Picture this: You’re 5,000 miles away from home. After a day packed with sightseeing and indulging in good food, you look for respite in your hotel room. Ready to take the remnants of the day off of your face, you reach for your beauty pouch in hopes for a quick but effective fix. Do you have the right kind for your skin need?

Make sure you have facial wipes that are perfect for your needs right where and when you need them. If you’re still looking for the best one, NIVEA has a wide selection that caters to different needs. Below, your perfect travel companion — according to your needs.

For all skin types: Cleanse thoroughly

Our skin reacts to the change in weather and humidity when we travel. So it’s important to have a product that not only effectively cleanses your skin but also moisturises it. Micellar water has been a popular cleansing product for many people of different skin types because it’s great for taking off dirt and makeup without drying skin. Now, instead of packing your bottle and cotton pads — which can be too bulky for a trip — pick up the NIVEA Micellar Wipes. It has all the goodness of micellar water — plus, vitamin E to nourish and hydrate your skin.

For normal & combination skin: Refresh and revitalise

There’s nothing more rejuvenating than taking your makeup off after a long day of exploration. If you’re someone with normal or combination skin, you’d want something that won’t wreak havoc on your skin’s balance, a.k.a. anything with alcohol is a no-no. NIVEA’s Refreshing Wipes don’t contain alcohol, which means they won’t dry your skin out. It also has vitamin E to keep your skin moisturised.

For makeup users: Go heavy-duty

Makeup, in itself, is not bad for the skin (discounting those with ingredients you might be allergic to, of course!). What can be bad when it comes to using makeup is not removing it properly. Your made-up face is exposed to dust and pollution after a long day. Made especially for makeup users, NIVEA’s Make Up Clear Wipes don’t leave the skin with a sticky feeling. It’s even great for those with sensitive skin because it’s alcohol-free, paraben-free, silicone-free, colourant-free and perfume-free.

For dry skin: Inject a boost of hydration

Before you even reach your destination, just being inside a plane can already cause one’s skin to become dry and parched. For sensitive dry-skinned girls, you’ll need a product that will not further strip moisture from your skin. The NIVEA Gentle Wipes are great for dry skin because they’re packed with Almond oil — a mild, hypoallergenic oil that’s teeming with antioxidants — making it great for keeping skin supple and hydrated.

For sensitive skin: Take delicate care

Sensitive-skinned girls, we feel you. It’s already a tough battle finding something that is delicate enough for daily use, but it’s a different feat to find something that will work for you in a different setting. Good news: you’ll definitely find a companion in the NIVEA Pure Wipes. They’re fragrance-free, alcohol-free and colourant-free, making them perfect for sensitive skin. They’re also packed with vitamin E for moisturisation and Provitamin B5 for extra hydration.
