The combination of stress, crazy weather, and inevitable daily aggressors do not mix well with anyone's holistic health. For some of us, a typical unwinding session after a long day involves taking a shower and following a simple skincare routine, adding in a clay or sheet mask to make it extra special — but that's that.

While sipping coffee or quickly putting on a sheet mask can help ease things up a bit, there is no substitute for an actual day of pure relaxation and pampering. Our body takes stress as a normal occurrence given that many of us have lifestyles that are fast-paced and ever-changing. And just like our gadgets that need recharging at the end of the day, we owe that to ourselves, too.

Whether you choose to go to a wellness centre or prefer to rejuvenate at the comfort of your home, the important thing is finding time to take a break and relax even just for a few minutes.

This inspired The Body Shop and The Spa Wellness to collaborate and spread the importance of relaxing one's skin, mind, body, and soul through their #TheBodyShopbyTheSpa's pampering event last 27 February.

Upon entering The Spa's Edsa Shangri-La branch, a sense of calm can already be felt — the lights were low, the room was cool, and the ambience was serene. There were various services offered, including the Crystalline Skin Body Treatment, for renewing and restoring the skin's youthfulness and glow, complemented with their classic Combination (Shiatsu + Swedish) massage

The room gives off a vibe that can quickly detach you from the hustle and bustle of the outside world so that you can focus more on yourself at that moment.

Aptly named Blissful Ritual, the use of rich textures infused with oils in the first half of the session, which is centred on a body scrub, can make one feel extremely pampered.

After more or less an hour, the next step was to clean off the oils by taking a brief shower. Among the choices for cleaning up was The Body Shop's Spa of the World Tahitian Tiaré Shower Gel, which worked great for cleansing the skin as well as moisturising it. The scent was very soothing. Aside from this, there are also three more Rituals from The Body Shop's Spa of the World line, namely Revitalising, Relaxing, and Firming that use refining textures and invigorating fragrances to create uplifting regimens designed to empower skin, body, and mind. All these come with shower gels, massage oils, body scrubs, and body creams and now also comes in travel sizes.

The massage commenced after and it turned out to be an invigorating experience, where thoughts simply fleeted and worries were temporarily forgotten. The idea of getting not just your skin and body pampered but also your mind completed the experience. It was a delightful experience to feel refreshed, renewed, and energised — with the sensations and scents filling up senses even when it was already time to hit the hay. The idea that the experience can be replicated at home was also a welcome idea — and something that everyone should try.

Pampering yourself is not a luxury — it is a necessity. It may seem ridiculous amidst a blocked out calendar, but you also have to remember that you cannot put your best foot forward when you're worn out. Taking time off, even just for a short while is worth it, especially because you can now take the spa experience at home with you. It is achievable at your own pace and space — no excuses necessary.

YOU and your well-being are worth it.
