#MOTD: Purple Romance | Clozette

It’s official: Purple has been dubbed the official shade of romance! I recently teamed up with two of my favourite beauty brands Dior and Estee Lauder to present their take on romantic looks for the month of love, as inspired by some of my favourite on-screen beauty personas.

--------------------------

The Sophisticated Debutante- Estee Lauder

If you are a huge fan of Gossip Girl’s Blair Waldorf character, then the Sophisticated Debutante look is for you. Like Blair, it’s all about understated but polished play on the eyes, a defined light brow and lips with the new Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Lipsticks, and the new love of my life: The Little Black Primer

1) Eyes

Using the Eye Illuminator as an eye base, a highlighting shade from the Estee Lauder Currant Desire Eyeshadow Palette was applied all over the eye socket. Next, the Estee Lauder Double Wear Eyeliner in Night Violet was lined along the top lash line and half of the bottom lash line, before being blended out in the outer crease. The inner lower waterline was then lined with a pearly gold shade to accentuate and brighten up the eyes.

Next, Estee Lauder Double Wear Gel Eyeliner was drawn along the top waterline of the eyes to give a widened effect. Tip: to get a thorough coverage of dark eye circles like mine, brush diagonal lines along the area of the area, then blend it in with a small brush.

2) Eyelashes

Lashes were first prepped using the Estee Lauder Little Black Primer, which not only helped to lengthen but also created a base that boosted the vividness of the jet-black colour of the Estee Lauder Double Wear Extreme All Effects Mascara, which was applied on top and bottom lashes. Tip: To reduce the appearance of under-eye puffiness, it is advisable to apply an eye serum like the Estee Lauder Advance Repair Eye Serum.

3) Face

Futurist Aqua Brilliance Liquid Foundation was mixed with the Estee Lauder’s Illuminating Primer for a smoother application, giving the complexion a radiant finish. Using a flat foundation brush, the foundation was blended evenly onto all areas of the face. Here's a tip: To effectively conceal more obvious blemishes, using a small brush draw the letter ‘X’ over the spot and a circle around it before buffing it in with the Estee Lauder Double Wear Concealer.

4) Cheeks

To achieve healthy flushed cheeks, Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Blusher in Sensuous Rose was dusted from the apple of the cheeks to the cheekbone area in a light, circular motion.

5) Lips

A pop of colour was added by layering the base lip colour with Estee Lauder Envy Shine in Surreal Sin before applying the Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick in Discreet on the middle of the top and bottom lips.

The Fairy Queen- Dior Backstage

Like the ethereal fairy Queen Titania from a Midsummer’s Dream, DIOR’s look is one that is part whimsical and part dreamy, but altogether so wearable for everyday. Using the latest Spring/Summer collection aptly named the Kingdom of Colors, the look is all about a natural, barely-there look with a play of sensual colours with a healthy flush.

1) Face

After priming the face with the Dior Capture Totale Dreamskin, dark circles and blemishes were then concealed with the airy Dior Air Flash Foundation, a spray foundation that gives a flawless, air-brushed natural finish. The foundation was sprayed directly onto the sides of the face (avoiding eyes), then blended with a medium sized brush in downward strokes.

2) Eyebrows

Using the Dior Brow Styler Pencil in shade Chestnut, brows were defined using short small strokes, and drawn a little thicker than the actual brows for a fuller brow look. A shimmery highlighter shade was then applied on the brow arch to accentuate the shape.

3) Eyes:

Using the House of Pinks Eyeshadow Palette, the lightest shade in Ivory was used as a base shade and applied all over the lid up until the brow arch. Next, a small angled brush was used to blend the rich plum shade around the inner and outer eye socket area, and the pearlescent bronze shade added as a softening colour to create a gradient effect. At the middle of eye, the light pink shade was tapped and blended for a pop of colour.

To create the illusion of wider eyes, the inner eye rim was lined with a Diorshow Khol Pen Eyeliner in 039 Pearly Silver, and the Dior Precision Eyeliner in Brun Brown added along the top lash line and finished with a sharp winged flick.

4) Eyelashes

Eyelashes were first curled using a metal eyelash curler, before applying the Diorshow Maximizer Plumping Serum to prime the top and bottom lashes to add extra volume to the lashes, fanning them to create a wide-eyed dolly look. Next, an additional layer of Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara was used to further enhance the lash length.

5) Cheeks & Lips

Using this multi-tasking Dior Cheek and Lip Glow (in a universally flattering rosy pink hue), a few drops were dotted onto the apples of the cheek. Using a dab-and-brush motion, the colour was blended upwards to the hairline for a natural looking flush. To finish off the look, the tint was also applied with a lip brush onto the lips to create glossy, kissable lips.

With two great looks from Dior and Estee Lauder, I think its time to ditch those boring nude and brown palettes and start getting more adventurous with this seasons’ most coveted colours! Special thanks to the lovely team at Estee Lauder and Dior for their kind help in this beauty tutorial.

The Clozette Team gathered in full-force earlier this month to host a fun-filled K-Party for our Clozette Ambassadors and Star Clozetters at Farm to Table Cafe on the 7th of February, 2015.

As an online community catering to Fashion & Beauty enthusiasts from around the region, one of the favourite things we look forward to are events such as these where we are able to meet and mingle with our members and get to know them beyond their online personality. It's always heart-warming to see our community in person and see them all form friendships that last beyond the online community. It's a close-knit family and it was truly an event that couldn't have been possible without the constant support and love from our Clozette Ambassadors and Star Clozetters.

Of course, an event such as this would not be possible without support from our friends, so we'd like to extend special thanks to the following sponsors for being a part of our event: LANEIGE, The Nail Social, Philosophy, Foundry & Co, Miacare, JL Heart, and Icing On The Cake.

Read on to see our favourite moments from our #ClozetteKParty >>
We welcomed attendees at the registration booth with name tags so they could easily identity each other through their Clozette profiles.

We also had special badges for our Clozette Ambassadors & Star Clozetters.

A few of our guests arriving at the party, all smiles and ready to mingle and enjoy the activities we've planned for the day.

In keeping with the K-theme of our party, the lovely people at Farm To Table Cafe specially whipped up a delicious buffet line-up that consisted of Korean-inspired dishes and delectable desserts.

Farm To Table Cafe is located at 83 Duxton Road, Singapore (At Duxton Hotel).

Our friends from Laneige had a booth where attendees could try their soon-to-be-released Two-Tone Lip Bar that makes achieving that perfect gradient lip a breeze.

Attendees were also able to get colour-matched for the BB Cushion, selecting between the Whitening BB Cushion or the Pore-Control BB Cushion---which they got to take home as part of the goodie bag.

Here's a snap of our Glam Asia Editor, Smita De Souza, giving the two-tone lip bars a try. The lip bars will be released in Singapore on March 2015, so watch out for it! We've already got our eyes set on a few choice colours (fun fact: majority of the Clozette Team opted to wear #5 throughout the party, a pink-to-red gradient shade).

The women of The Nail Social were also on hand to give express manicures for our Ambassadors & Star Clozetters.

One of the things we love about The Nail Social is that they were established with the aim of training and employing local underprivileged women to help them progress from a position of vulnerability to security and self-sufficiency. So for socially-responsible nail services coupled with a cafe and fair-trade retail all under one roof, visit them at 42A Haji Lane (2nd Floor), Singapore.

To learn more about their full range of services, visit their site at www.thenailsocial.co

Our dear friends from JL Heart (who we did a Date-Night Feature on last year) were also there with a display booth featuring their latest accessories.

JL Heart curates a range of jewellery consisting of earrings, necklaces, bracelets and rings, with the materials of choice being 925 sterling silver, 14K pink gold and 14K yellow gold. They believe in quality in design, materials used, and workmanship.

To see more of their designs, visit their site at www.jlheartonline.com

Our very own Clozette Team also had a booth, giving our attendees golden tattoos that added a bit of glimmer to their OOTDs for the day.

And of course, what is a party without some photobooth fun? Here are a few of our favourite snaps!

As with true Clozette fashion, we held a Lucky Draw segment as the event came to a close. Here are the lovely prizes up for grabs that day.

The brand is based on the belief that science gives us better skin, inspiration gives us better days. our scientifically-proven skin care includes award-winning peels as well as cleansing, moisturising and anti-ageing products that deliver remarkable results.
