The past year gave us a ton of beauty discoveries in the form of exciting releases. Undeniably, there were quite a number of products that piqued our interests, but as we’re starting a new year, we’re only bringing along all the best that made our 2019 lovely. And what exactly topped the charts in everyone’s beauty-loving hearts? Instagram’s top beauty insider with 1.5m followers, @trendmood1, just created a poll to decide on the best of the best once and for all. Over a million online beauty junkies have spoken by casting their votes on makeup and skincare they loved.  So, without further ado, here are the most popular beauty brands and products of 2019.

Best Complexion Product

To create a good makeup look, first and foremost, you need to have a good base to build all that colour and shimmer upon. When we search for foundations, we want something that offers long-lasting cover without negatively affecting our skin. Out of all the complexion products released last year, the Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Longwear Foundation was named the greatest. The most active Instagram beauty lovers have spoken, and not only did it possess the qualities aforementioned, but, in true Fenty fashion, it also came in 50 shades, making it perhaps one of the most inclusive products of the year.

Best Eyeshadow Palette

Another beauty essential everyone must have in their arsenals are eyeshadow palettes. The multi-tasking product aren’t only for the eyes, but the shades can be adapted to work on adding colours on other areas of your face too. And out of the many releases that promised to deliver vivid results, it’s the Conspiracy Palette from the Jeffree Star Cosmetics’ collab with Shane Dawson that won. Aside from their intriguing packaging and shade names, the 18-pan palette offered vivid colours that created tons of possibilities for makeup enthusiasts.

Best Lip Product

Of course, your look for the day wouldn’t be complete with a good lippie. In 2019, we saw the trends shift quite quickly from the smooth mattes to sparkling glossies. Seeing that, it was only natural that two glossy lip products duked it out for the top spot of @trendmood1’s polls. Ultimately, one of the popular beauty brands and makeup products in 2019 was Fenty Beauty’s Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer that won with 70% of votes. Available in three shades handpicked by Rihanna herself, the glossy liquid lip product gifted everyone with explosive shine — the perfect finishing touch to any look.

Top Beauty Collab

One gift 2019 kept giving all throughout were the beauty collabs that were previously just the stuff of our dreams. We had pop culture tie-ups like the Star Wars x Pat McGrath collection and the Shu Uemura x Pokémon collection.  But according to @trendmood1’s poll, what really won people’s hearts were the unexpected collab between Jeffree Star and Shane Dawson. The two were very hands-on, working together for a year to produce their Conspiracy Collection. The eyeshadow palette already bagged the best eyeshdow of 2019 and their glossy liquid lippies must’ve delivered superb results seeing that they had record-breaking sales when they were released.

Top Skincare Brand

But before all our makeup should come our skincare. It’s an integral part of our daily beauty routines that should never be missed. After all, our skin is the foundation for all the colourful looks we want to try out. A flawlessly bright skin is our key to facing the new year with confidence. But with many skincare brands promising to deliver stellar results, which one really wins our hearts? Beating Glow Recipe in @1trendmood’s poll with an overwhelming percentage of votes was Tatcha. With its time-tested and pure products, it seems that the Japanese skincare brand commitment to clean beauty never falters.

Top Drugstore Brand

Who doesn’t love hoarding beauty products? The more products we have, the more beauty possibilities in store for us. It’s especially more exciting with makeup, because the variety of colours and finishes can help us create looks we haven’t done before. Still, a lot of the good products come with a hefty price tag. Luckily, there are still drugstore brands out there that make our beautiful endeavours gentler on the pocket. And for 2019, the drugstore makeup brand beloved by everyone was ColourPop. Though relatively more affordable, the brand has never compromised on the quality of products. Not to mention, last year, they’ve released a number of interesting collabs too like their more recent Frozen 2 collection. Do we hope to see more of their great releases this decade? Definitely.

Top Emerging Brand

Aside from new collabs and releases, 2019 was the year we witnessed more brands emerging. Beauty vloggers and Hollywood celebrities alike tried their hand in managing their own beauty line. In 2019, the one who takes it all, however, was Tati Beauty by Tati Westbrook. Amidst all the controversies and drama this year, the beauty vlogger and makeup artist proved that she’s ready to go beyond and produce makeup that’s her very own.

Top Makeup Brand of the Year

But really, which makeup brand takes all the cake? It was a close fight between ColourPop and Fenty Beauty, but ultimately, it was Rihanna’s makeup line that comes the best of the best. It’s not surprising, seeing that they did win two of the best makeup products of 2019 in @trendmood1’s polls. But more than that, creating what is now the among the most popular beauty brands and makeup products of 2019 because of its number of shades made 2019 a more inclusive year for beauty. After all, makeup should be for everyone, right?
