Quick Tip: How To Pick A Cleanser | Clozette

If there's one thing to really take note about skincare, it's this: that your skin should never feel squeaky clean after every wash. In fact, as noted by dermatologist Dr Joyce Lim in the video below, a squeaky clean face simply means that you've stripped your skin of its natural oils and water, essentially drying it out and making it more prone to peeling, excessive oil secretion, and break outs.

A good cleanser removes oil, dead skin, makeup, and other impurities from your face with ease. At the same time, it doesn't strip your skin of water or reduce the skin's lipid content.

With all the products available in the market today, how does one pick a cleanser that won't dry the skin while still keeping it clean? Simple--just look at the ingredients and the consistency of the product. Some ingredients to look for: water, propylene glycol, cetyl alcohol, and sodium lauryl sulfate.

But if we have to give a general tip to keep in mind, it'll be this: stay away from harsh bar soaps and cleansers that foam too much. A thick, foamy consistency tends to dry out your skin faster compared to clearer formulations that don't lather into a face full of foam.

One of the reasons why the health and fitness trend is still on a strong streak is because of the long-time benefits it offers. Health is indeed wealth-- that's why both fashion and beauty junkies are hooked to exercising and eating right. This kind of lifestyle doesn't just offer a fit body and clear skin, but a sound mind and happy spirit.

If you haven't made a lifestyle change yet, here are 5 easy ways to get on the health and fitness bandwagon!

Cook Your Own Meals

Eating right sounds easy, but really--it isn't. Especially to those who are fond of eating a piece of cake everyday or indulging in a burger almost every week. Eating these things are not bad, but regular intake might give you health problems in the future. Sweets and greasy foods are sources of fat that might make you gain weight in a bad way. Prevent this by cooking your own meals. That way you are sure that the ingredients are healthy, fresh, and cooked according to your own liking.

Incorporate Exercises

You need not have a gym membership or a personal trainer to incorporate exercise in your daily routine. Start by doing more walking, like walking to the grocery store instead of riding a car or by climbing the stairs to work (if it's not that high) instead of the elevator. These small habits, done on a daily basis will condition your body and are simple ways to get some exercise done without breaking too much sweat.

Have A Positive Mind

Negativity drains the energy out from people. Start being healthy inside as well by being optimistic--have a positive mind, refrain from bad side comments, and laugh away any negativity. This will develop optimism, self-control, and a good and happy heart!

Get All The Toxins Out

Ever heard of juicing? It's popular because you get all the toxins out of your body. You can also try similar ways such as teatoxing and even infused-water detoxing. Have a drink once or twice a day and you'll notice a certain glow within in days or weeks!

Last but not the least, rest. You're not a robot and your body needs at least 6-8 hours of sleep to function properly during the day. You can also rest by having time away from your phones and computer, reading a book, or by playing with your siblings. Being a workaholic isn't healthy after all. Wake up less cranky and energized for a whole day of good vibes!
