Pull Off The Rhinestone Makeup Trend With These Tips | Clozette

Want to make an impression when you decide to get dolled-up? Why not put on a bedazzling rhinestone makeup? Nothing spells shining, shimmering, and splendid than adding actual gems to your look. Who needs bling when you can make your bejewelled eyelids a strong statement accessory? But how can you pull this off and make it appropriate for a planned casual ensemble? Here are some gemmed tips to help you slay the rhinestone makeup trend.

Glam up your faux freckles

Take the fake freckle trend up a notch. Push the envelope even further by using gems for them instead. Make sure you sprinkle them strategically and not as cleanly as you may first want. This gives the illusion that your face was actually peppered with gems.

Outline your eyes

Instead of smudgy eyeliners, try using small gems to outline your eye makeup. Using this technique not only accentuates your peepers, but it also turns you from beauty maven to a beauty goddess. Make sure that your eyes are free from anything that's wet or sticky so the rhinestones can be applied with ease. Next,  make sure to use a safe yet strong adhesive like Revlon’s Precision Lash Adhesive and you’re good to go for the rest of the day.

Add shimmer to your lids

Forget the conventional eye shadow; give your peepers an instant glow and shape with some rhinestones. Line them up the way you would do your favourite eye makeup. Just make sure not to overdo it by trying a colour that’s flattering. Start with a shade that can highlight your complexion such as clear bling or maybe a soft rose quartz colour.

Sparkling nose stud

If you’re not ready to go all-out bling, then you can start with the rhinestone makeup trend with something subtle like a nose stud-inspired look. All you need is a decent-sized gem and place it on the crease of your nose for an interesting touch.

Dot the cat eye and dot

Another way you can ease into the rhinestone makeup trend is by simply dotting your cat eye with a gem. Strategically place a rhinestone or two at the end of your eyeliner wings to give your look a fun yet subtle touch. It’s undeniably simpler yet it still gives a touch of drama.

As we age, thinning hair becomes a concern. Despite that, there's no reason to panic or despair. With all the innovations we have right now, maintaining luscious locks even for those with naturally fine hair is attainable. I've been seeing a lot of options in the market ranging from novelty hair products like horse shampoo to hair treatments, but what interests me the most at the moment are unique hair-strengthening blowouts. So when PREP Luxe offered for me to experience their newly upgraded Mint & Egg Blowout, I was so excited.

This month, I went down to the salon to give it a try. Ahead, the results and my experience.

Prep Luxe Mint and Egg Blowout

Even from afar, you can already tell that PREP Luxe is a lovely salon. Their distinctive window display featuring golden hairdryer pieces is very eye-catching and totally Instagrammable. Once you step in, you will be greeted with cosy and chic interiors with white and gold details. It's a great haven for relaxation, especially after a tiring working week. The location itself is convenient. It's at Capitol Piazza, where upscale boutiques and trendy restaurants are nearby — great for grabbing a bite after your appointment.

Prep Luxe Mint and Egg Blowout

I was escorted to one of their comfy seats and was prepped for the Mint & Egg Blowout. First, they washed my hair using a 100 per cent natural purifying shampoo with nourishing essential oils and Pro-Vitamin B5. As I was getting my hair thoroughly cleaned, I can't help but notice the invigorating scent of this shampoo, which I later found out is made from the mix of mint, blackcurrant buds and lemongrass.

After the cleanse, they began treating my hair with their signature combination of Freedom Range Company Eggs (a.k.a. eggs laid by healthy and well-treated hens who run free in their spacious barn) and PREP Luxe's special custom-made hair oil. The mixing is done on the spot to ensure freshness. Awesome touch, right?

Unlike other strengthening treatments, this Egg Solution promises to give your hair a smooth and silky feel, which makes it a great complement to other hair services like perms and colouring. And don't be fooled by this seemingly simple procedure. According to PREP Luxe founder Jacqueline Chang, it took months to perfect this formula. "It took us a long time to figure out the right ratio of eggs to water and our very special custom-made hair oil for the best results and to ensure there is no smell of egg on your hair at any point during the one-hour blowout," she shares.

To test out the prowess of the Mint & Egg Blowout, I was treated to a new hair colour and got some relaxed beach waves. Oh, and did you know that PREP Luxe only uses GHD hair styling tools? The one they used to give me beach waves is the GHD Curling Tongs, which is the same model I use at home. So nice!

As for the shade, the salon hairstylists suggested I go for a burgundy brown hair colour to frame and emphasize my dark features. It's been some time since I last updated my look, so this is definitely a welcome change. And ta-dah, here's the result!

PREP Luxe Mint & Egg Blowout

Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at PREP Luxe. Their Egg Solution was super refreshing for my scalp. I also liked how much it nourished my hair before the colouring and the blowout — no straw-like hair or whatsoever. Going here definitely lifted my spirits up and gave my hair the bounce it needs.

After months of teasing and mystery, Victoria Beckham has finally dropped the launch date of her new beauty line. In less than 24 hours, the British icon will be releasing her own range of beauty products. Interested to know more about it? Read on.

It's a clean beauty line

The news of Victoria Beckham Beauty was first announced in February with the fashion designer sharing a short video on Instagram about her upcoming clean beauty line. The former Spice Girl has been very vocal about the need for beauty brands to indicate the contents of their products on Instagram, so it's no surprise that she would do exactly that with her own brand. She has since posted a series of behind-the-scenes photos from the brand’s photo shoots.

They're inclusive

We're interested about how the brand's first campaign photos featured women of colour and we're definitely happy to know if this is a move for them to be inclusive. “I want to create solutions for real women head to toe, inside and out. It is all about making my community feel like the very best versions of themselves,” says Beckham.

The packaging is sleek and aesthetically pleasing

With an ongoing rise in clean beauty brands, Victoria Beckham Beauty promises to not only make ethical and sustainable choices in making their formulas but also in their packaging. The sleek white outer packaging is the perfect embodiment of Beckham’s timeless, elegant style. It was also revealed that all of the brand’s packaging will be made from 100% post-consumer waste. Though the brand has been very forthcoming that they are not quite completely and wholly sustainable as of the moment, they’re actively looking to partner with industry leaders in science, technology, and sustainability to make their business process even more sustainable than it currently stands.

Cop Victoria's signature look

So what can we expect from their makeup products? Not much has been said, but based on their recent posts, you will have everything you need to recreate Beckham’s signature look of smokey eyes and nude lips. So far, the products are primarily for the eyes. It includes a type of eyeliner and two kinds of eyeshadow, with more yet to be announced.

If there’s a celebrity we would trust to know about good makeup, it’s going to be Posh Spice. Her previous collaborations with makeup brands include the highly successful Victoria Beckham x Estée Lauder capsule collection. Through this project, she met her co-founder and CEO Sarah Creal who most recently served as head of global make-up development and marketing at Estée Lauder.

Victoria Beckham Beauty will be available on their website, victoriabeckhambeauty.com, starting tomorrow, 14 September 2019.
