We at Clozette have always been big fans of Shiseido products. This Asian brand continues to prove that quality beauty products can be made by marrying Eastern oriental knowledge with the best technological advances. This is why we were very excited to drop by the My Japanese Beauty Pop-Up Store to discover the secrets of Japanese beauty through a special multi-sensorial experience featuring their brands Anessa, Senka, and Tsubaki.
My Japanese Beauty Pop-Up Store along Orchard Road, outside Ngee Ann City
For this special pop-up, Shiseido flew in eight historical artefacts from the Shiseido Corporate Museum in Japan. This is the first time that these items were brought out of the country. Some of these artefacts are first-generation Shiseido products, such as Tsubaki’s Classic Shampoo and Conditioner, Anessa’s Sunscreen Milk, and Senka’s Perfect Whip. They created a fantastical and educational museum-like extravaganza within the small intimate space found along Orchard Road.
A Taste of Beauty
Trying out the special collagen tea at A Taste of Beauty station
In a state-of-the-art display, this pop-up store fully immerses the visitor in the space through sound, music, and animation — all triggered by your footsteps as you approach and enter each room. We began our journey through Shiseido’s history with a theatrical tea-brewing experience. They customised a special collagen tea just for us as we learned about the impressive achievements Shiseido has gained over the years.
The Aroma of Nature Meets Imagination

We also got to know Tsubaki, Shiseido's premier haircare line from Japan. Upon entering the area, you're welcomed by the delicious aroma of the Tsubaki Garden, a spectacular indoor plant paradise. In this room, we not only got to know Tsubaki better but we also took a sensor-powered quiz to match our hair type and texture to the right products from their collection.
Where Your Beauty Dreams Come To Life
The bright Senka room filled with Senka goodies.
Next, we stepped into the Senka room where we learned how to achieve that enviably clear, moisturised bare skin through their interactive product bar. We also saw some of their cult-favourite facial foams on display, as we discovered more about Senka’s story.
The All-Seasons Shield
The immersive Anessa area with its animated wall projection.
We traipsed into the next area, where we learned why we should be wearing sunscreen all-year-round with everyone’s well-loved suncare brand Anessa. We jumped on the chance to capture stunning IG-worthy photos in front of the animated wall projection found only in this room, all while the hypnotising display transitioned between the four seasons. Then, we were given tips on how to best care for our skin with Anessa’s sun care secrets at their immersive learning bar.

The pop-up opened on 20 September, which was attended by the face of Anessa: the beautiful Joanne Peh, accompanied by her husband and fellow actor Qi Yuwu. The face of Senka, Jasmine Sim, was also there in attendance looking radiant and fresh with her dewy, glowing skin.
Finally, if you find yourself wanting to buy items that were displayed throughout the pop-up you can visit the last Watsons station. Visitors can get up to 30 per cent off on purchases made inside the pop-up store. The pop-up is open from 11 AM to 9 PM on weekdays and until 10 PM on weekends.
