How to Prepare for Summer: DIY Summer Inspiration, Things to do & Essentials!

We’ve all been there--rushing out of the house with your makeup bag in hand only to realise you’ve forgotten something and have to run back in. If only we had a cute kit that could hold all our essentials, go everywhere with us, and fit in all our bags, including our tiny clutches. While that may seem like a tall order, Jennifer Cheng, founder and CEO of Glam-it has in fact created the perfect to-go makeup kit – the GlamPact

First launched in 2013, GlamPact was introduced as the perfect solution for women who lead a fast paced life and always needed to look their best. It featured powder, blush, bronzer, lip balms, lipstick and eye shadows. Now Glam-it has retained everything we love about the original palette and made it even better. The newer palette is smaller, sleeker and curvier for a more ergonomic shape; and its snap in colour modules mean you can customise it to create your own unique GlamPact..

What makes it even better is that the powders are triple-milled so they’re extremely fine and go on smooth with great colour pay-off. The lipsticks are creamy and moisturising and there’s even a concealer. To add to that, all makeup in the palette is made with vegan ingredients and is completely paraben, sulfate, and gluten free. Moreover it isn't tested on animals and doesn’t contain any animal-derived ingredients.

Just like its predecessor, it features LED lights (so you can apply your makeup literally anywhere) that are completely rechargeable with a universal USB cord. Compact, filled with everything we need and customizable, the GlamPact is an absolute must-have.

Since this would definitely be a great addition to any beauty-lover's makeup bag, we got together with our friends from Glam-It and got a special price exclusive for our Clozette Community. Get your own GlamPact for only SGD69 instead of the usual SGD111!

Hop on to the Glam-it! site and use the code CLOZETTEGP to avail of this discount.

Hurry, the offer is till 5 June 2015 only.

When it comes to beauty-centric bloggers in the Philippines, a name stands out from the crowd: Shebby Liquete--also known as ShebbyChic here on Clozette. She is an in-demand beauty-guru and youtuber who carved her way in the industry by truly following her passion in makeup and all things beauty.

We recently got the chance to chat with her to get the low-down on everything from what inspires her, how she got started with Youtube, and even got her to share a few nifty makeup tricks that everyone needs to know for the season. Here's what she had to say!

How did you get started in the Beauty Industry? Were you always interested in Makeup, Skincare, and all things Beauty?

The first time I started using makeup was during 6th grade, puberty started affect my skin which made me really conscious. The first makeup item I ever picked up was a concealer from Revlon. From there, I started growing my collection of makeup products, which eventually evolved into a love for the craft of makeup artistry.

You're a self-taught makeup artist. Can you tell us more about the journey that led you there, like how you got started in acquiring the skills and being an avid practitioner of the craft of makeup artistry?

As a kid, I was always fond of sketching and painting during my free time. In college, I studied BS Interior Design at the University of Santo Tomas (UST) in the Philippines. I think it came natural for me to acquire such artistic skills--whether it be painting, photography, videography, designing, or makeup artistry. Though I have to admit, it's not as easy at it sounds. Wverything was learning processes. I think the success in me being a self-taught artist is that, my skill is already something that has started as a hobby, and through the years, it led me to an amazing job opportunity.

Who are your inspiration in the Beauty Industry, are there Beauty Editors, MUA, Brands that you look up to as a beauty guru?

My favourite international MUA that inspire me the most and where I get most of my knowledge from are Lisa Eldridge, Bobbi Brown, Wayne Goss, Nikkie De Jager, Samantha and Nicola Chapman (a.k.a Pixiwoo sisters).

How did you get your start in the Youtube Beauty Community? Was it a natural progression from blogging by moving onto video content?

Funny how this sounds, but my YouTube Channel actually started out of boredom. I was really bored one day after my class and I was trying to get a good excuse not to do my plates and homework. I started filming myself with my old laptop webcam, from there I notice I get many comments from strangers how they liked my video and telling me to upload more videos for them.

How long have you been a Youtuber and what has the experience been like? Has life changed since you decided to be a video creator?

I started my Channel around March of 2013. But my fame only started when I won the title "Etude House Pink Artist" for the year 2012-2014. Since then I was able to collaborate with different cosmetics and beauty brands in the Philippines. My life did change. YouTube has opened a lot of opportunities for me. I was able to work and collaborate with many prestigious beauty brands and established my name in the beauty industry.

What are some of the challenges you came across when venturing into video content creation?

I think the hardest part of being a YouTuber for me at least was the video editing part. It took me at least 6 hours to a full day to edit a single video. It’s actually exhausting and frustrating especially when the video file gets corrupted at the end.

Any tips for our community who are looking to enter video content creation?

Just be yourself! Find something your good at and stick to it. Find your niche. Be inspired but never imitate others. Establish your own identity, create your own signature content, and try your best to be consistent.

Now that we’re in the midst of summer, as a makeup guru do you have any beauty tips for the season? What are some of the products you would recommend that would be perfect for the season?

When it comes to summer makeup, less is more. Try to stick with natural hues, light weight base products, and waterproof formulas. And of course, never forget to use a high SPF sunblock to protect your skin from premature aging against the harmful sun!
