“At first, I thought it was only for blush and then I realised there's a bottom layer that holds a balm that can be applied on the lips,” Stephanie shared, recalling her first time using the Wander Beauty Double Date Lip & Cheek Tint.

Stephanie was curious to try the product since she has been looking for an alternative to matte powder blushes that no longer work well with her dry skin. She also wants a tinted lip balm that will moisturise her chapped lips. Since the Wander Beauty product has a lot of moisturising ingredients — safflower and sunflower seed oils as well anti-inflammatory green tea extract — her hunch that it will perform well on her dry complexion and lips may be right.

She describes the duo-layer packaging as “clever and user-friendly”; it has a built-in mirror that allows her to check the status of her makeup throughout the day and see if any smudging or fading has occurred.

Use and application

Props for its portability and moisturising ingredients — but how does it fare when applied?

Since she has dry skin, Stephanie wanted to see if the product would be patchy as a blush. This is in addition to her using it as a tinted lip balm and cream eyeshadow. She found that using her fingers works best to apply the creamy product. “Use your fingertips and gently dot three to four dabs along your cheekbones and slowly blend it using the index and middle finger together to avoid patchiness,” she recommended. She uses a makeup sponge to blend it all together as a final touch.

She also found that it’s better to ditch the brush when using this product. “I tried using a brush, but somehow the hair got stuck to the product,” she observed. Because of this, she hopes that it would come with an applicator as she finds it tedious to use her fingers and a sponge on the go.

Though the brand describes the product as gel-like, Stephanie thinks it has the consistency of a cream-type product. “But not that kind that feels messy. It is really easy to apply and manage.” The clear balm offers a little bit of moisture that feels comfortable on the lips too.

Of the shades she’s tried, Stephanie’s personal favourite is Honeymoon, one of the newest additions to the range, which is a rosy nude hue.

She also likes Suite Talker, a nude peach shade, that can be built up to a coral-like hue on fair skin.

The product is pigmented on first application, however, Stephanie preferred to go with a light hand and build it up layer by layer for a more even application. Overall, she loved the effect it had on her light-medium complexion. “I really love the radiant and natural glow that leaves on my skin. It looks very natural. I even applied it on my eyelids, cheeks and lips.”

Final thoughts

If you’re searching for a pigmented cream blush, look no further.

So will the Wander Beauty Double Date Lip & Cheek Tint be replacing Stephanie’s powder blushes? “I am really amazed by this product. Before this, I've been using powdered blush, now I have a better alternative.”

She can see herself using the product on a daily basis and even for evening excursions with friends, although she’ll apply it differently and build up the colour on her cheeks. Its versatility as a makeup product is also commendable.

She specifically recommends it for people who don’t have oily skin and love natural-looking cream-type makeup products that are easy to apply. If this sounds like you, you may want to check its four shades that are available for USD22 each in Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines through Sephora stores and websites.
