Adidas cooks up another collaboration for an iconic, unmistakable, and fiercely feminine collection featuring Mary Katrantzou-- a designer labeled as the “Queen of the Digital Print”. Her new additions to the esteemed Sports brand is a demonstration of a unique design through combination of color, texture, and form. The futuristic designs of strength, dynamic sense of color, and a mastery of print and surface manipulation makes the craftsmanship stand out from your normal sportswear-designer collabs.
At first glance, the prints seem like divine representations of Olympic symbolism but upon closer examination, the prints reveal themselves to be intricate collages of various sports gear: a stopwatch, a tennis racket, and a badminton shuttlecock. These elements unite to form Katrantzou’s witty yet subtle ode to the athletic tradition of adidas.
Katrantzou’s footwear also breaks ground with her imaginative take on adidas classics like the Superstar in vibrant prints and with holographic trim. The Flux Tech also gets remade with eye-catching patterns, colorful, ’80s-inspired athletic motifs and a luscious abstract floral jacquard, referencing the season’s inspiration as only Katrantzou can.
Catch Adidas Originals by Mary Katrantzou exclusively at the adidas Originals Concept Store in Suria KLCC, Malaysia from July 17th onwards.
