Happy Sunday! It’s fun being a tourist in my own country and visiting Garden by the Bay Cloud Dome to get this shot. Thank you @yuniqueyuni for being so patience and waiting for the crowd to pass. We only have 1 second of clearance and the crowd is really nice to wait for us to finish the photo before they pass through. If everyone is as kind and willing to wait, photoshoot will be completed really fast! #visitsingapore #gbb #exploresingapore

Discovering this little gem in my neighbourhood at #katong. ⁣
⁣
⁣
Tanjong katong is Malay for “turtle point”.5 Katong was a species of sea turtle that is now extinct, and it also refers to “the rippling effect of a sea mirage” when looking at a shoreline.6⁣
⁣
In 1822, Raffles set aside the stretch between Sandy Point (the tip of Tanjong Rhu) and Deep Water Point (Tanjong Katong) as a marine yard. To give impetus to the new industry, Chinese settlers were provided compensation for moving out. By the 1860s, boat yards were proliferating there.⁣
⁣
Before reclamation in Marine Parade, Tanjong Katong fronted the sea. Wealthy Straits Chinese, Europeans and Jews built mansions, hotels and recreation clubs along the beach for weekend retreats. The area became known as a health resort and was peppered with residences. ⁣
⁣
⁣
Today, some of the shophouses still retain the atmosphere of the 1970s. The lowest point on Singapore island is found in Tanjong Katong, this flooding often occurs whenever the nearby Geylang River brimmed over during high tide or the rainy season. Tanjong Katong flooded six to 10 times a year, and this continued until 1993, when the river was deepened. ⁣
⁣
If you are a Singaporean, you would have remember this song, “Di-Tanjong Katong”, which was made a national song, sings of the tranquil atmosphere of Tanjong Katong with blue sea waters washing ashore.⁣
⁣
So, next time when you are in Katong area, imagine in the olden days, everything further out is supposed to be the sea.

Missing this sunny beach on #Jeju island. My friend told me that I must visit #gimnyeongbeach or also known as #woljeongribeach on my trip to this volcanic island. Then I said, “what’s so special about this beach, it’s just the sea and the sand?” Boy, was I so wrong. It’s the entire vibe of the beach, the soft white sand, the clear water in the most amazing blue, the cafe along the beach, family with kids or friends playing along the beach, the cute famous colourful chairs by the pavement, uncle selling cuttlefish.. everything! I can’t describe the ambience until you are there. I under estimated a beach.... and I’m glad I’ve visited this place. I’m posting a simple photo because I hope you can experience this beach yourself when you are there. Vibes can never be captured in a still image but only can be experienced. This is also why I love travelling. #jejuisland #visitkorea #jejubeach #visitjeju #jejutravel

Happy Deepavali to all my Indian friends! ⁣
⁣
Deepavali is also known as the “Festival of Lights,” and the holiday abounds with colourful lights displays and numerous clay lamps to lighting up homes. This is meant to symbolise the Hindu religious concept of “light conquering darkness.” I’m lucky to be residing in Singapore to share and witness this beautiful festival with my Hindu friends.⁣

I’ve asked myself why do I fear uncertainty when we are all born out from uncertainty? What are the chances of being born? It’s almost at the lowest possibility. Yet, we fear uncertainty. ⁣
⁣
Scientist made the greatest discovery by observing and testing out uncertainties. Most often, the greatest discovery are made while the scientist are looking for something else. We are supposed to be the scientist of our life where we keep observing and trying all possibilities of life, not living a life base of pure certainty of taking the job we don’t like, to save money which we won’t use and keeping it for a retirement funds that we can’t reach.⁣
⁣
So why are we trapped in our life just doing things we thought are certain everyday? Does certainty ever exist? Or certainty is actually overrated? We don’t even know what will happen tomorrow! Shouldn’t we live by accepting n appreciating uncertainties and do all the things we will like to do, instead of staying in delusional “safe zone”. A food for thought for you. ⁣
⁣
Meanwhile, make a guess where is this taken in Singapore. #bluemosque #visitsingapore #exploresingapore #instasingapore #mosquesofworld #sgfashionistas

Behind me are full bloomed Rhododendron which are showcased in the Flower Dome for the first time. Rhododendron derives it’s name from the Greek words for roses and tree. These flowers does looks a bit like giant roses. @gardensbythebay has brought in around 80 varieties from New Zealand to showcase it to you. Don’t miss them if you love flowers. Only till 28 October!

Nothing beats capturing a memory in photos especially when it’s captured by a professional photographer from @sweet.escape.
@yuniqueyuni and me has been taking photos for each other but it’s hard for us to get another friend to capture photos of us in the way we envisioned. Photography is not just about aiming and pressing that button. Photography is about capturing expressions and body language plus good composition all at the right moment. It’s not easy.

Thanks to @sweet.escape and photographer @jameschiamxw to help us capture moments on camera which we would otherwise never been able to do it ourselves. These shoots at @seaaquarium.sg are very challenging with the blue tones, water reflection, moving fishes and huge crowd but @jameschiamxw from @sweet.escape is skilful enough to capture them perfectly as you can see from the photos. You can get your professional photos at a great price with @sweet.escape too.
Quote “BLACKIVORY” to get
1. $50 off + 30 extra photos for a photo session around the world excluding Indonesia, the Philippines and Singapore.
2. Or Extra 50 Photos for a session in Indonesia, The Philippines or Singapore *Valid for 2 hours session only till 31 Des 2019
Or

I love to support local artist. The earrings I’m wearing are from @muyu.co ⁣
Handmade proudly in Singapore. Every piece is unique due to the different grains on the wood and each wood trinkets tells a story. Wood makes a perfect material for accessories due to its hardy nature, and I love how light it is. These earrings are so comfortable that I don’t even feel it when worn. ⁣
⁣
@muyu.co offers wood jewelry making workshop too. You can spend a fun afternoon being an artist and unleash your creative mind at @muyu.co ⁣

Before we did our research, we never realize Singapore has so many pink architectural. Most of them are always there but we failed to notice. Just like this Hindu temple which I’ve passed by so many times until recently, I realized the building is pink. ⁣
⁣
Most often we are too busy focusing on other things than to really open our eyes to look at our surroundings. We take things for granted, just like any normal human beings. But it’s nice to remind ourselves to look around you instead of gluing your eyes to the phone. You will be surprised what you may find.

Isn’t this the cutest community center in #Singapore, because it’s all pink? ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
We were there on a Sunday and was surprised it was closed. Originally, we wanted to shoot inside the community center but we can’t go in. We almost gave up but I was thinking, since we already made our way here, we not just try to find an angle. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
This angle turns out really well and was found by accidental! If we were not forced to find an angle since it’s closed, we wouldn’t even have spited this. So, it’s never about how good your camera is, or how perfect the environment should be for a good photo, but about how creative you are in spotting good angles. So, sometimes, try to steer away from the typical photo spot and use your eyes to spot a composition. Sometimes you really may surprise yourself.

This location is the only place with pink tiled wall in Singapore and it’s so cute! Originally, my partner in crime tried to asked a certain influencer where is this place, but she refuse to say ☹️⁣
⁣
And we tried asking another influencer and she is kind enough to share the name of the place. Although not exact location but it’s good enough to help us narrow down our search. ⁣
⁣
I guess not everyone practice this mantra, sharing is caring? 🤷🏻‍♀️⁣
⁣
What are you views on sharing Instagramable locations? ⁣

I came to realised past recent years that friends may walk away from your life for their own personal reasons. And I may also want to walk away from certain people because they are no longer on the same path as me. Has this ever happen to you? ⁣
⁣
I’ve learnt that we grow, we change, we moved on. I always tell myself that the only constant in life is change. We never know what happens next. ⁣
⁣
Today, I think a friend has decided to part ways with me. But on the bright side, old friends leave to make way for new friends to enter my life. ⁣
⁣
I’ve made so many new friends such as you on this IG platform and I couldn’t be more grateful. Thanks for the constant support, all of you.

Redhill MRT gets my vote for being the prettiest MRT station in Singapore. ⁣
⁣
Have you ever wondered why we call this area Redhill? Actually Singapore has many folk legends but these were all hidden in our national library archives, not told at all. ⁣
⁣
So, Long time ago, coast of Singapore was infested with ferocious swordfish which would Attack anyone near the shore. This cause a lot of problems for the fisherman. ⁣
⁣
One day, a little boy proposed a plan to the Sultan (the then governor) which was to build a wall made of banana tree trunks along the coast. The swordfish beaks would pierce the banana tree trunks and be embedded in them when they attack.⁣
⁣
The army wasted no time and immediately built the wall of banana tree trunks. Indeed, as the boy had predicted, the swordfish leapt out of the water, only to be stuck in the tree trunks.⁣
⁣
At once, the royal army took advantage of their predicament and slayed all the swordfish. Once again, peace and security had been restored.⁣
⁣
This boy became a hero and was so popular that the Sultan got jealous. The sultan sent his army to the boy’s house which is on top of a hill and killed him. ⁣
⁣
The boy’s blood gushed out and flowed profusely, down the hill. Within moments, the entire hill was bathed in red.⁣
⁣
From then on, the entire hill and its vicinity has been known as Red Hill (or Bukit Merah in Malay) due to its red soil, and in memory of the tragic boy hero.

I am blessed to be living in country with 4 different religions. Visiting beautiful temples are not difficult in Singapore. This is a small section of the famous Thian Hock Keng which is literally translated to Palace of Heavenly Happiness, it is also known as the Tianfu Temple, is a temple built for the worship of Mazu, a Chinese sea goddess. ⁣
⁣
This temple is one the oldest and most important temple of the Hokkien (Hoklo) people in Singapore and we happen to spot this pink wall, so, why not?
